I miss the good old days of paging through JC Whitney. I used to get it as a teenager. Luckily I never had any money to spend on some of that stuff.
Heck I’ve been around these buses long enough to remember GoWesty printed catalogs. |

Passed by a pastel white late model Westy camper going the opposite way on Mercer Street near SLU (Seattle) around 2:50pm PST today.
Had a tire mounted on a swingaway on the passenger side.
Wasn't able to grab a picture, let me know if you're on here! _________________ 📖 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, Jesus,

I saw my kinda doppelganger today at the liquor store. Bluestars are fairly rare, so seeing one is a big deal for me. This van was quite shiny and well provisioned with cool upgrades, while mine is a whipped mule of faded glory. Nevertheless, it's pretty sweet to see two rare vans in the same town. We waved and passed on our merry ways. _________________ Casey--

Yesterday afternoon, Garden State Parkway rest area in Montvale New Jersey which is about 2 miles south of the New York border: Ivory & bright orange aircooled in excellent condition, with Maine lic. plate. I was coming into the rest area from the southbound side, to use the internal exit as shortcut onto the local road. Saw the Vanagon in the distance parked in front of the building, and drove past for a look. |

We were camping at San Elijo this past weekend, and I think we saw more westy's (vans and buses) this past weekend than we have any other weekend in our 4.5 years out here southern California, and not just driving around, actually camping at San Elijo with us. It was crazy. Made me wonder if covid making people actually start using this thing that sits in their driveway for 95% of the time or what..
Also, saw one of these camping, new to me poptop option..

Saw this one up at Hoodoo Ski Resort in Oregon this past weekend. Started talkin to the guy. He claimed the top was a "stock option" on his 1987 Westy. upon closer inspection, it appears to be a baywindow hightop. Kinda interesting.

I think that's a Fiberform top. Definitely not stock _________________ Casey--

^^ the use of metal roofing screws to secure the top pretty much says "not stock."
Not saying it's not fine, but it's certainly not stock. _________________ 1991 Vanagon GL 2.1 AT Westfauxlia. "Frankie" Totaled https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=764510&highlight=carnage

Was it me? I drive through Westfield most every Saturday. |
I don't know how I didn't see this sooner. Not sure, What color is yours. The one I saw was I believe white or tan...it was getting dark. This is mine, almost on the road finally! Message me when the weather is better if you're passing through and you'd like to check out the rig sometime!

Saw this guy while I was running some errands around town (Oakdale CA). I usually see a lot of Vanagons and other campers on their way towards Yosemite / Mountains on 120 heading East! This guy was parked, and it’s not one of the other vanagons I’ve seen around town before

Ahh, Shattuck Ave, the Gourmet Ghetto (Cheeseboard, Chez Panisse, etc.), movie theaters and bookstores. It's been over 20 years since I saw a movie at a Landmark theater or stayed the night at The French Hotel and ate at the fancy places.
Early on during my stay in Berkeley (it wasn't for higher ed.) I was sitting in Cafe Med on Telegraph and looked up to see three naked people walking down the sidewalk. I smiled and felt right at home. _________________ - Jim

I saw 3 down here in the Keys. A silver tin top with extremely shot paint and 2 really done up Westys. I saw a blue westy pulling into Robbie's and decided to stop and say hi. The other was a white westy.
Matt and Genevieve said they've been on the road for 7 months and 20k miles having crossed the country it seemed at least twice. They said the first trip across to the west coast was trouble free but now they are starting to run into some issues and are planning on a replacement transmission from Matt Steedle. So if you see these guys by the side of the road, maybe they need some help!
If the two of you see this and make it up to the DC area, let me know! _________________ '87 Syncro
