Didn't get a pic but spotted on Parham at Brook just now, a grey late model Westy with lots of stickers on the windows, a large roof basket and jacked up at the rear. _________________ '87 Westy in Wolfram Grey Metallic |

This shop must have the rep for Vanagon repairs and it's become a reliable source of pix for this thread. A freshly repainted '87 looks like it's in for a fuel line replacement (GW kit on the front seat), with paint so fresh that the mudflaps have not yet been reinstalled on the blue-painted brackets.

It looks to me like that '87 was freshly repainted in Orly instead of the factory year specific Marine Blue Metallic. |

That doesn't have nearly enough red in it to be Orly Blue! _________________ '84 Vanagon GL 1.9 WBX

After a closer look I agree. I was thrown by the exposure/lighting in the first pic. In the brighter light it looks more like Marine Blue. ( no metallic, my bad)
You see red in the Orly and I see dark purple. Tomato/Tomauto. |

Love that color! If I were going to repaint my van, I'd go with something like that. _________________ Vanlife Geek

Pretty decent looking Westy parked in the lot at work (Kent,WA). Had to park next to it. Vanagons have to stick together.

Old Fields WVA, on Route 48. I was talking a break from riding my motorcycle and this Westy zips along. Even though we left 15 minutes after I took this pic, we caught up to it 45-50 minutes later! I gave him a thumbs up when I passed him on Route 81. Mass plates, this guy is going the distance.

I too love that color.
Been thinking about a lighter sage green though. Might be a bit cooler and blend in with a larger array of backgrounds. Like the idea of leaving the pop-top white although I think I would paint the sides of the top to match the body and just leave the very top white.
In any case, nice prerunner! _________________ Currently:

Seen in Sandpoint, ID. The 9B on the plate indicates that it's registered in Boundary County, just to the north of Bonner Country where Sandpoint is located. A nice, well worn air cooled.
