Saw the same one last night. Didn’t take a photo as i was sidetracked by a duo across the street of a 20’ 50’s Chrysler parked behind and early 60s triumph hardtop. Whale on a guppy.
There was also a sweet tin top syncro around the corner. |

This afternoon I took a quick evaluation drive in my '77 Beetle after installing new tires during the week. On the northernmost section of the Garden State Parkway just before it merges with the New York Thruway, I came up to a maroon Vanagon Westfalia with NJ plates. We exchanged waves. |

That's a nice setup. Anyone know the brand of that storage box? I'm also curious how the jerry can is mounted. _________________ '88 Westfalia, 1.8T |

We saw two on a 90 mile trip today.
The first was a white 85 or so Westy. It was heading southbound on I 25 Just north of Colorado Springs. We did the usual waving as we passed it. It must have been a stock 1.9 judging by its speed. I was too late asking my wife to get a photo. I explained this thread and the need for pictures.
She kept her camera ready, and caught this one:
This is near Cascade, Colorado. Off Hwy 24 West of Colorado Springs. It wasn't there when we passed by a few hours earlier. Erica shouted "Vanagon!" as we whizzed by and managed to get the photo out the back window of ours.
Since we are in a Vanagon, that makes us "Vanagon Spotters" so I consideer it fair to include a Bay Window.
That's on the summit of Pikes Peak, all the way from California.
A pretty good day for 45 miles each way. |

Twins! Fraternal though. My '87 Syncro is up front and the 2WD van behind also lives in my neighborhood andhas the Adventurewagen conversion. Rare to see one of us, but TWO?! SAME YEAR & COLOR!!!

No picture, but who was driving a white pre-86 Westy in Smyrna TN today? It had black mountain decals on it and we saw you right by the airport. _________________ 1989 Westfalia - 2.5L Subie

I think it was installed by the owner to keep people from taking his gorgeous van! I love that German red. _________________ '84 Vanagon GL 1.9 WBX
