My water jacket is leaking so it’s time for Subaru conversion. I’m pretty dead set on the 3.3 because the main person I know that’s converted a Vanagon and would help me did an SVX as well. I’m also helping someone else out with an SVX so it all feels familiar and I’m well aware that my tranny will go… eventually.

Now that I got that out of the way. Any of you SVX guys have any recent issues with parts? That’s the only thing that would hold me back from my conversion is having an engine that is already obsolete and harder to find parts for than the WBX. One of my biggest parts concerns is ignition coils. I’ve heard you can use the 2.2 coils but thought I’d ask here and get some thoughts from fellow Vanagon guys.
