There was a separate kit with the safety wire and lead seals and tool to attach to the governor lead seals. If you didn't know, the governors have a manufacture date code stamped on them. The ones lacking the 1, 5 designation on the front cover are rarer, intended for 40 hp service, I believe. _________________ Roads Scholar &

How about NOS ventilation inserts for early 40 HP:
Not a stock assembly line item, but one that would be added later at the dealerships if needed.

Got this nos inner front support today. Have not seen this version before. Could it be early barndoor? Has part number 211 703 071 written on it. Black one is autocraft repro for comparision. |

Wow John, that shot really made my morning! Very NOS cool item! My dream tool is to buy the seal crushing plier that crushes the VW logo into the lead seal.
