Typically the rear door comes downward to facilitate loading.
I'm not sure if this Bus has had the rear door reversed at some point or it may just be so early that they had not changed the rear door design yet.

One example:

Note handle at top of Bus and small deck lid.

Not sure, but I think this one have some sort of mechanism, like the iron lung ambulance.

factory barndoor ambulances have rear hatches like post bd's

But this barndoor doesn't open up in the rear so how can it be an ambulance? I'm confused. Confused

No. You're reading it wrong. It states that the bus was sent to Miesen Ambulance.

It was converted at miesen and they made a hatch to fit in the rear which was still on it but in very bad condition when it left portugal and came to the uk the rear window has now been put back to factory spec.
hope this helps.

That's the impression I was under. That it had had a small rear opening hatch fitted by Miesen.....

maybe you are right.. and miesen did it! but i don´t know why? Confused

Miesen did the hack in the rear and built in the hatch on to a hard wood frame nailed in to the body, I removed the frame, the hatch was long gone already Wink
