i have a 67 and on a recent junk yard run i came accross a bus (71 i think) that had a motor in it that looked like it was brand new. i mean maybe 2-5k on it. new block (atleast maybe used but looked brand new) new heads, fuel pump, carb, clutch, and starter. i pulled numbers off of all the stuff and have searched but no luck. i even googeled the numbers lol. i need to see what i can use and what i cant. thanks a lot in advance.
the block... has 391 on it, also on top it has JCS, then it has AS21 043101102A
the clutch has....120000310
the starter has .....excel 16450
my old clutch had 113 141 025
i hope this helps. i can see some differances in the clutches and it might be manufactuers or is made for the bus only. |

The AS21 says it is a late model case. The other number you gave is the casting number of the case, not the actual engine number.
You say it is a single port, so that means it is probably a 1600cc at the least. You will need to see what the center of the pressure plate is to tell if it is early or late. A round ring in the center usually means it is an early. No ring means a late.
If you can buy that whole engine cheap enough, you should. And then use it or flip it to someone else for a profit. _________________ Society is like stew. If you don't keep it stirred up, you end up with a lot of scum on the top!--Edward Abbey
