so we hired a new guy at my work and somehow VWs got brought up and i was telling him about the fasty im saving and he asked the inevitable
"so you gunna put a porsche motor in it?"
i then spent about 30 minutes trying to explain to him that you dont need a porsche motor to go fast, it was funny.
that is all sorry _________________ Brian

must be something in the wind. yesterday - I'm getting into my Square to leave work - some dude is sitting in his Pontiac G6 waiting for his significant other to come out of the office...
he says - dude..nice car - heard you fire it up the other day. sounds good. you put a porsche motor in that thing?
NOPE - all stock...except for the 4 tip monza that makes it sound rumbly.
I confess that I'll miss that healthy rumble when I get the stock exhaust put in. _________________ Paulie Walnuts

VW's have "always" been loud non-stock! Put a $50 header & a $10 used Harley muffler on it. |

At least you get the Porsche motor question.
Almost every non-VW person I know asks if/when/will I put a small block V8 in it?
I usually respond with "Why would I take the Porsche out to put a Chevy in?" _________________ Everything known to man has been written.

Yeah, I get that a lot too. I think it's because my car is a little loud and rumbly. I also have Centerline wannabe wheels. I often get "Is that thing fast? It looks fast", to which I usually respond with laughter. |

Thanks for getting that song stuck in my head, but I think it has more to do with this:

god...is that dude still alive?
side track topic - exhaust note:
so i'm about to return my Square to all stock exhaust...but will miss the monza rumble a bit.
anyone run stock muffler - but put a 1 tip monza out the left rear corner where the stock tip should exit?
any thoughts/ideas on how to make it look stock - but sound tough? _________________ Paulie Walnuts

On my Notch, I run a stock muffler, but I'm using a section of Harley pipe on it. It's a little louder than stock, but not much. It does have a different exhaust note compared to other stock exhaust equipped t-3s I've heard (including my other 2). _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

and i have a stinger with a baffle
and altho i love screaming by corvettes on the HWY with out the baffle - lotta sound for such a little car
im looking into an exhaust like mike fischers square
and i would LOVE to get a 2.2 or a 2.4 for my fasty
but
HA thats about 3 or 4 grand atleast
and for the 3.0 or the 3.6
Look towards 7-10 grand
Then agian i can buy and build a 2332 4cyl for about 2500 or 3000
AND people either know Exactly what it is or think
its a Volvo 122S
and there just happens to be one bout 15 miles up the road for sale for 1800
