I just recently tuned my bus for a long trip that we leave for tomorrow. I noticed while driving around trying to get the timing just right, that no matter how I adjust the timing it doesn't solve this sluggish 3rd gear. After driving on a small highway for around 10 minuted, I noticed the right side smoking abit when I parked. It seems to be oil overheating out of the right valves and smoking on the heat exchangers.
I'm pretty sure that this 3rd gear sluggishness is the culprit of the overheating, but I am not sure how to fix this.
I have a Weber 32/36 DFV...could I not have tuned it right??
Please help me all you Type 2 gurus out there...I am supposed to leave tomorrow.
Thanks,
Mark |

I could really use some input from you guys. I've played with the timing back and forth...to death really....and settled at 4 after my 0 timing mark (on the type4 style gauge baside the fan).
Ive tried tuning the carb properly (ie Weber instructions), but I get barley any variation from the mix screw. When I try seting it to the factory settings..it'll turn over, but not start.
Someone out there please help...anything...thoughts...suggestions..anything. I have already had to postpone my road trip to the west coast because of this, so I would appriciate some insight.
Thanks in advance,
