Anyone have any experience with the dealer installed "optional" air conditioning unit for the bus? We just bought the bus from the original owner and he had the AC installed by the dealer when he bought the bus. Does it significantly impact the power of the engine when it is operating? How well does it work? Is the company who built it still in business? |

the compressor is a york compressor. it has been used in practicaly everything, or in some variation. my 78 had the a/c when i bought it. i am sure the reason that mine doesn't work is because the compressor clutch isn't getting power to it and the twin fans underneath the bottom of the bus are seized up. i tried rigging it up temporarily and gave it a shot of some of the old r-12 but to no resolve. that blower is quite nice when it is hot though. let me know how it turns out. |

Search the archives at Type2.com. There's a lot of discussion about the old York compression and it's favoured replacement the Sanden. |
