When I was making the new side panel for my carat, I decided I to install a 1/4" female jack so I could play my guitar through the stereo system. I ran a cable up to the head unit and hooked into the aux channel. I am running 4 Infinity 3 way speakers (in stock locations) and 2 JL Audio 8" subs mounted in Bazooka tubes (under the rear bench). It sounds incredible, I almost like playing in the van through a "car stereo" more than a regular guitar amp.

I haven't quite finished my side panel yet. Still looking for the right material for the table. I've tossed around the idea of corian, stainless steel, formica...

Any ideas would be much appreciated

Add some Marshall Stacks!

Heh heh....

Good stuff. Much more fun than practicing trombone in the Westy..... though with the top up, I can stand up and play!

Neil.

..or a nice integrated single ended 6v6 power amp;-)

I used to take my Brono or 66 deluxe reverb sometimes on trips and plug it in the inverter, worked fine, but got thrown around alot, muddy, beer battered, etc.. I picked up a cheap solid state ibanez practice amp that sounds suprisingly good, and only weighs 10lbs.

Directly plugging into your van though, that's smooth;-)

That is rad, my wife wants it in our westy now, and while the guitar---->car stereo is super bitchin' the shag carpet you have actually tops it.

Very cool indeed... a rolling practice amp! My solution is a little more low tech... my wife and I play acoustic instruments.

I love the weekender as a rolling practice room/recording studio. When I have to take my daughter to her dance lessons (1 hour, 20 mins from home) or my step-son to basketball (2 hours, 30 mins from home) it doesn't make sense to drive home. Instead I take some combination of fiddle, guitar, mandolin, and octave mando and practice or do multi-track recording with my Zoom H4. In the weekender I can comfortably sit in one of the jump seats and have room for bowing the fiddle.

Just a thought....Pignose (brand) guitars makes a rechargeable amp(20 watts). So if you don;t want to waste your battery recharging an amp consider it. It is nice and loud. I get my high school supervision people so pissed off at me all the time for it being too loud at lunch!! Razz

Thought this was related... since I have a van I'm usually the guy hauling our gear around. This is but a fraction of the amount of musical gear I've stuffed in here, good thing we are a trio!

I really like the HH Srat, it's has a nice range of tones. Good call on the POD, I need to pick one of those up! I sometimes throw my BOSS loop pedal in the van since I like to play with myself Wink

Ooooh, 66 deluxe reverb, NICE! Love the sound of those! Good thinking on the ibanez. Keep that 66 nice, although a little beer never hurts.

It was a pretty simple setup, you could install it anywhere in your westy. Since I was installing a new side panel it just made sense to do it near the bed where I play most of the time. Your wife is obviously a cool gal!

Speaking of wives, mine was cool enough to let me steal that carpet out of her art room.

Thanks for the link. Looks like a nice little unit. Actually I am getting ready to install a second battery under the drivers side, so i don't have to worry about killing the battery.

Isn't that the case...Vanagon=Moving Van.

I am sitting here listening to your tunes on myspace, KiLLeR JaMs! I can dig it, especially Venus Toast. Do you have any more samples?

I love the idea of the rolling practice room/recording studio!!! What better way to spend time waiting for someone. How many people have jammed in your van?
