|

I had my bus jacked up over the weekend. I lift it with the jack placed carefully under the engine sump with a block of wood to protect it. I noticed the rear engine mounts really stretch out upon lifting the bus and when I drop it back down on the ground the engine really sets down like the mounts are sagging low.
Is there a measurement on how much sag they have. I am right at 170K miles now and I think they are original mounts. _________________ 1990 Vanagon RS 2.1

Dude, don't pick up your bus by the engine. That stretches the mounts, and they'll delam at some point and, well, I shudder to think....
The engine support bar is fine to lift the back by.
Without that kind of abuse, the mounts ought to go 100k easy. 170k on originals is common, I'm sure. _________________ Shop for unique Vanagon accessories at the Vanistan shop:
