bought this wheel from a samba member - RIS. It needed some work, so I wood putty'd the 3 and 9 o'clock spokes and refinished it. Not perfect, but fits my needs and I like it.

It's an old Dino Raid Racemark.

Anybody know? Its got a VW logo in the middle...

It's a Mountney black 3-spoke - I have the same one but with a different horn button. They made them for MG, Rover, Triumph, VW, & a few others (depending on adaptor). Do a search on Google images for Mountney Steering Wheel & you'll see some examples just like yours.

I have a 73 super with the oddball threaded shaft that has the thread on nut...
I have had no luck with any steering wheel swap.
does anyone know any steering wheel that fits? or works?
anything other than a stock wheel is what i want.

I love my wheel! 1/2 Billet & 1/2 Leather! It is the right size for manual steering and feels awesome in your hands! The only downside is the billet does get cold, very cold!

It's not stock for a Beetle but it is a stock Volkswagen steering wheel from an early Scirocco:

Check with the Formuling France experts for the exact model- don't forget the accessories forums.

I like he cip1 as a replacement. The interlago has a nice crest. I think I'll refurbish my 77 wheel. It's got a few cracks. I'll sand it down, fill with bondo, spray primer, then black enamel, then clear coat. Can't find a classic dub wheel style that fits the 77. Wish the Rometsch did. I'd paint it black because the stock is black.
