Yes I searched....
What are you guys using for hitches???
I am looking to pull a light weight trailer for camping gear.
I PM'd Thom about his repro westy hitches but he is out/doesn't make them anymore.
I also found some being made for early bays by jeremyrockshock, and pyro made a nice one for his"plump truck", they mount do the bumper bracket areas,
would that hold up in a split if I made my own to mount off the bumper bracket area?
oh and yes it has stock exhaust, and the trailer alone weighs only 160lbs.
Any one make there own and want to share their plans and pics? _________________ 66 Bus

Here is my VWoA hitch:
It attaches to the bumper bracket bolts and requires a few more holes to be drilled in the brackets and bumper. They are fairly common and pop up in the classifieds regularly. |

The Plump Truck does NOT have a hitch, yet!
My hitch is on the Dormy which is a '65 and pretty much will clear any type muffler system you can throw at it! Will tow pretty much anything too as the brackets are heavily reinforced. It is a "normal" run of the mill hitch adapted to modified bus brackets and if you look at the pictures, have a welder and are confident enough with your welds, you can make one too. I want to "copy" it for the Plump Truck and have been looking in "all cars" swapmeets with my measuring tape for one wide enough for it. _________________ Some people are so busy being clever they don't have time enough to be wise. |

I really like that layout, as I said before I wont be pulling alot of weight
