YouTube tip from EverettB if you want to do a screen capture:
If you are on a computer, you can pause it and use the , and . keys to move backward and forward one frame.
Then hit Print Screen on your keyboard and a screen capture will be on your computer clipboard for you to paste into any image program to crop it or do whatever you want.
Also the "Share" button on YouTube has a "Start At" checkbox to create a link that forwards the video to a specific point in time inside the video. |

Have you seen Blow?
there is a bus in the movie for a bit, but there is an error in the year of the vehicle. The scene is introduced as 1972, but johnny depp gets out of a 73 or later bus. The movies would be better off to hire people like us to keep from making critical errors such as this one. You might argue that the bus could have been an early '73 and the scene in late '72 but if my memory serves me correctly, the bus did not have a gas door so it would be at earliest a '74.

Hey guys thanks for the replys. The more the magazine sat there with me not knowing the answers, the more it drove me nuts. Hey Busnerd, I know what you mean about cars in movies. In a scene in "Stand By Me" you can see a regular beetle and a convertible beetle in rough shape. They both have signal lights on top of the fenders....58 and up right???? Well, they must not have held up to well considering the movie is set in 1959.
Some other movies that have bugs/busses as scenery.....
Friday The 13th
Gremlins
Jackie Brown
Raising Arizona
Predator 2
Truman Show
Blood in Blood out
A couple of Woody Allen Movies
A type 3 fastback getting flipped over in the original(and better) "Gone in 60 Seconds" *1974
And a cool baywindow chase scene in "Delta Force" |

The other day I was watching the movie "All the Presidents Men" about the Watergate breakin with Dustin Hoffman & Robert Redford... towards the end of the movie, Redford is walking in the parking lot in D.C. and I noticed that there was about 14-15 VW's out of 20 or so cars in the lot. Caught my eye anyway.

The Simpsons
The episode where Homer thought his father Abe had passed away. Instead his father was still alive and a new female tenant was moving into Abe's retirement home.
The VW scene come halfway through the show. It shows a VW Thing with Marge's sister and mother in it with Homer standing on the side!
Check it out! |

They were filming an indie movie here in town this summer about a girl in college whose parents die and she has to fend for herself. She was driving a late 60's dark blue bug in the movie. We came across the car one night turning on to the highway with a movie camera mounted to the side of the car. They were shooting some highway scenes for the movie. Its called " Independence" I think. We were driving our VW's that night and stopped and talked to some of the film crew. They kinda freaked when we pulled up and started asking questions about the car. Keep an eye out for it at the sundance film festival. _________________ My last fortune cookie said:

In "Scream" the girl who gets stuck in the garage door drives a red bug.
Goldie Hawn drives a yellow vert in "foul Play" and a bay window bus in "Wildcats". Molly Ringwold drives a dented Karmann Ghia in "pretty in pink". (I think that was the one) In "Happy Gilmore" Happy gets run over by a white bug and wakes up saying "VOLKSWAGEN!" Then theres the famous Squareback from "Witness" and the Beetle in "The Shining"
I go nuts when movies are incorrect too. I noticed the Beetles in "Stand by me" years ago, as well as the cars in the junkyard as being way too new. I thought I was the only one who remembered the red Beetle in "Gremlins", it was always plastered in snow and it would never start, and the crazy neighbor would complain about the damn foreign cars _________________ '69 Beetle, '69 Beetle Convertible |

Can't believe no one has mentioned "Bullitt", with Steve McQueen....during the famous "chase" scene, there is a Beetle, a '66 or later, (movie was made in '69, I think), which shows up repeatedly, either being passed on the left, parked on the street, etc. The funny part, or the part which bothers the detail-freaks, is that the same beetle keeps gettin' in their way, as though it is faster than these two muscle cars, careening around San Francisco at 60-80 mph. Next time you watch the film, you will notice dozens of VW's (and 356 Porsches), including buses, ghias, and Type III's. Actually, the same is true for any tv show or film made on the west coast in the late 60's, early 70's. This was the "hay day" for VW, especially on the west coast. _________________ '73 Bug;

Was watching the movie the Hulk yesterday with my son. There is a white and yellow bus about 3/4 of the way through the movie where the hulk is in the city destroying everything. _________________ OG JHC

Just rented a DVD last night called "Rolling Kansas" a lame doper marijuana movie. There's a bay window bus in it and also an earlier VW bug. Movies stupid but the cars aren't bad. _________________ My last fortune cookie said:

Just watched Bad Boys 2 saturday, and during the chase scene with the Haitian druggies, a nice Westy bay window gets creamed, folds the ass completely up under the bus.
I know not everyone likes late model stuff... but if they keep crashing them up sooner or later were gonna run out of them _________________ There will come a time when you believe everything is finished. That will be the beginning.

I always liked the bug sitting in the cave that fires right up in Woody Allen's "Sleeper" movie.
