Latest "Octane & Caffeine" show featured a Squareback (as well shots of other Type 3s), though the comment that it had 34 hp from the factory is wrong, of course... it was a dual-carb model that was something like 60-65.

Green early '60's Beetle in new movie "Ford v Ferrari". I just saw the movie, but you can also see the car in the background in this shot from the movie trailer. It's seen behind actor Christian Bale (playing Ken Miles) in the Hi-Ho grocery store parking lot. Euro blade bumper, seemingly wide rear track, lowered, and what could be polished/chromed Empi 5-spoke rims. A few years too soon. There's also a black oval window Beetle in the background of another scene, parked along the street.

See it in the movie trailer-

I saw the trailer for Jumanji, The Next Level, last night. Looks like there are a lot of old school Baja bugs and buggies in it racing around in the dunes.

Today's (Dec 2, 2019) Judge Judy case about the upholstery and headliner job on this car. The whole episode was about the car, not the usual 15 minutes per case.

The Plantiff was suing for the balance owed on the upholstery work. I don't want to spoil the show, so I won't disclose who won (for now).

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Unfortunately this is the only picture of the car shown.

Interesting details from case, maybe for discussion on another thread.

The defendant (owner of the car) says he paid $2500, JJ says it's worth $12,000 to $15,000 fully restored.

The Plaintiff (who did the reupholstery and headliner) charged $2K-$3K, he supplied the materials.

At one point the show a blurred image of the packing slips, can anyone who's seen the episode recognize the logo?

Just saw a TV commercial for the Kreg wood joint jig tool; showed the front section of a red '68-'70 Type 2 for about 2 seconds. Stock white rim with the domed hubcap. Did not spot if it had a round or rectangular side reflector. Could not find the commercial on YouTube.

IMO these rims are the best looking for a big-bumper Ghia.

Fish posted that red BayWindow just a few posts above mine; nuts that I did not notice it. So the BW is clearly a '70.

67- I don't know how my comment about the Ghia's rims got into my response when I was writing about the Kreg BW. Thanks for providing the link to the GetSmarter commercial (though it was also already just posted a few days earlier). Did you ever watch a rerun of the original series in which the late '60's Ghia is driven up by Maxwell Smart in the opening credits?

Let's just say that Ameritrade had way bigger budget and more talent than I had in this Get Smart safety video I made a decade ago !!! I didn't have a Subeam or a Karmann Ghia available, I just had my Karmann-made 1971 VW Convertible.
Understand that this was a very minor part of my job, I was a laboratory analytical chemist, but the R&D folks and the VP of R&D loved these films, saved us in insurance costs as well as showed we were focused on safety.

A couple of things in this film were almost censored by R&D management, but I was allowed to keep them in.
