TV show "Emergency!" (1976 season 5, episode 17) named "Right at home". Paramedics John Gage and Roy DeSoto (actors Randolph Mantooth, Kevin Tighe) tend to and extricate a man and his young son in an overturned Splittie camper. Dr Kelly Brackett (Robert Fuller) wearing white overalls is on a field assignment from his usual hospital base with the medical helicopter, and also assists with medical attention. We don't see how the accident happened. Bus appears to have a large high-flow type muffler on a header.

No need to apologize, just drawing your attention to the photos.
Someone made a mistake in the prop department or they couldn't afford a split window. Great movie though.

Some VW tie-ins on 2018 TV show "Autopsy... The last hours of James Dean". A Los Angeles-based forensic pathology expert examines evidence of the circumstances and activities leading up to the tragic death of actor James Dean in 1955. Dean was involved in a major road accident when driving his new Porsche 550 Spyder in central California. His German mechanic Rolf Wuetherich from the purchasing dealer Competition Motors (Hollywood, CA.) rode with him. Dean was driving the car to a road race in Salinas, CA to enable the complicated, 4-cam "Fuhrmann" engine to break in. The re-creation shows Dean first looking at the Porsche at the dealer which he bought only the week before. Unfortunately the car shown here is not a 550 Spyder, but a replica of its successor the 718 RSK Spyder. Note the '66-style VW wheel cooling slots, and the front swaybar clamp on the lower trailing arm. Front brake drum also appears to be the "ribbed" style from the balljoint suspension. A proper 550 Spyder replica is shown during the on-road driving scenes.

I've seen replicas of the RSK being either rear-engined, or more upscale versions using a mid-engine layout. The engine in this one has a red-painted VW doghouse fan shroud and air cleaners that appear to be the typical ones for Weber 34ICT single-throats. More evidence that the shown car is a replica is the rough matting of the fiberglass on the underside of the engine lid, whereby the original had an aluminum lid.

Period photo of Dean with the actual 550 Spyder, most likely at Competition Motors, has Beetles at left. Man at right is friend and driving coach Bill Hickman, who later became famous as the driver of the black Dodge Charger in the movie "Bullitt" (1968). Also the driver of the Pontiac Grand Ville in movie "The Seven Ups" (1973).

Shot of photo with Dean as boy with his parents has a Porsche Type 64 (Berlin-Rome racer) to the left Shocked Surprised !

There is also an old newsreel film segment where a '58+ golden-green Beetle (diamond green?) drives past a KFC.

hadn't really bothered to read much about dean's fatal accident, but looked into Rolf Wütherich's story - pretty sad life he had afterwards...and died in similar fashion.

Has anybody seen this Bus in a movie? I’ve just purchased it from Burbank and the previous owner says it was a movie prop. It was restored around 2010, so a movie before then. It was also purchased about a block from Warner Bros. Studios so I would imagine a film from them. The photo was how it looked before the restoration, thank you in advance.

Man sitting at left in background looks a LOT like my father. Dad was a motorpool field mechanic under Field Marshall Erwin Rommel in WW2 North Africa and actually worked on Kuebelwagens. He was still a late teenager at that time.

Splittie panel van in "Emergency!". Season 6, episode 19 "The boat". Paramedics Gage and DeSoto (actors Randolph Mantooth, Kevin Tighe) walk past a customized mid 1960's van to inspect a V8-powered ski boat that is parked in Station 51's rear lot. The van is sometimes seen in other episodes, parked in the street. Note the Jackman wheels, the Miller-Havens rear wheelwell flares and side air scoop.

This shot is blurred because I clicked about 1/2 second too late as the shot is transitioning to a close-up of the fuel filler cap. I only noticed the Baywindow bus in background during my image editing. Boat owner is Station 51's off-site mechanic played by Richard Bakalyan standing at right. He has another tie-in to VW machinery, stealing the blue Meyers Manx dune buggy in "The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes" along with his gangster boss played by Cesar Romero.
