Likely been posted before, but I just started watching "The Man in the High Castle" on Prime, and it takes place in 1962 with Germans controlling 2/3 of the US and fair amount of beetles shown. |
However, at least in Season 3, seem to be more beetles in the Japanese Pacific States than one would expect, as they'd have essentially Japanese makes there. I'd expect the beetles in the Greater German Reich (eastern and middle of former USA). _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. "What's Up, Doc" (1972) takes place in San Francisco and is loaded with VWs. The car chase near the end is wonderful, with a blue '68 Beetle as the car being chased.
Early in the movie, Judy Maxwell (Barbra Streisand) stops at a pizza store. A white notchback drives past behind her. A few minutes later she follows the delivery man across the street, oblivious to traffic. As a motorcycle wipes out avoiding her, there's a red with black roof Type 3 Ghia on the opposite curb.
Around the same time in the movie, Howard Bannister (Ryan O'Neal) and his fiance are riding in a taxi going to a hotel in San Francisco. Behind the taxi are two Beetles, a Bay Window and Splitty buses.

I see a blue Bay Bus in the ads for the TBS series "The Guest Book" but haven't caught in any of the few episodes I've seen. |
