The Type 4 doesn't have a dedicated "seen in movies or on TV" thread in the 411/412 Forum so I'll add some more sightings here. My interest in the Type 4 comes from my father having several new ones as company vehicles, and me learning to drive with learner's permit and driver's license in mom's 412 Sedan.

Charlie's Angels TV show season 3, episode 19 (1979) named "Marathon Angels". Back of a 411 Sedan:

Charlie's Angels S3, E17 (1979) "Angels in a Box". Silver 412 sedan in background of Angels Kelly Garrett and Sabrina Duncan (Jaclyn Smith, Kate Jackson) in Sabrina's orange Pinto. That black spot near the roof of the 412 is the Pinto's driver side rear window hinge.

In the pilot episode of the TV show "The Streets of San Francisco" (1972) that became a very popular series, City Police Detectives Mike Stone and Steve Keller (Karl Malden, Michael Douglas) pass by a black or Deep Sea Green 411 Wagon in their brown Ford LTD sedan.

Movie "Spark" (1998) has an red/orange, and a silver 411 or 412 Wagon in background in the small junkyard. I could not find the filming location per internet search, though some lic. plates show AZ and CA. Character shown is Mooney (Brendan Sexton III).

Just viewed this movie, the view of actors in car is very strange, as if props used something other than a VW ? Actors seem very out of proportion.???

My Mrs has been re-watching Fringe. I lost interest after re-watching the first season, but this scene got my attention. Punchbuggy...

Same video has this quick shot of a Beetle Karmann Cabriolet on the freeway on-ramp/flyover. Location looks a lot like the refineries at Elizabeth/Linden, New Jersey seen next to the New Jersey Turnpike/I-95 interchange with I-278, looking SW. I don't think so; the left taillamp is too low and close to the bumper. Maybe a Saab 93, though its rear window shape does not coincide. Also not Opel Kadett Coupe because its rear window has a significant curve at the upper corners.

Like all TV series of the times, in the '70s "Colombo" had VWs in the background all the time.

Watching Season 5, Episode 4 ("Matter of Honor" with Mexican bullfighter Ricardo Montalban), filmed in Mexico, there were tons of Bugs (most cars shown, as you would expect. But one caught my eye, the yellow Brazilian 1600 Variant:

a quick glimpse of the back of a kubel in 'land of mine'; an excellent film if also a disturbing, disquieting & devastating story that's inspired from the immoral & inhuman act that the Danish authorities perpetrated against German POWs, the majority of whom were teenagers, following the end of the Second World War in Europe.

Movie "Istanbul" (1957) filmed in Turkey, starring Errol Flynn. Unfortunately a low-resolution version on YouTube so that Oval Beetle's details are difficult to clearly identify despite some simple optimizations in Photoshop. @ 34 minutes into the movie, as Flynn's character James Brennan pulls up to his building in the taxi, the Beetle drives by. You can see low taillamp height (hearts), overrider bumpers and what appear to be 2 exhaust tips which places it most likely as a 1955. Beige could be L275 Light Beige due to the dark rim centers.

Good catch. I've been wanting to photograph that one for years, and finally did tonight, but I see you posted it already.
That's from a 1962 episode titled The Bank Job, season 3, episode 13.

Adam-12, Season 6, E9, "Capture"
Some fine cars in the background.
"Hannig's Imported Car Service"
I can't find any current listings for this business. Probably in the east San Fernando Valley, back in the mid-'70s.
