Here's a picture of the second style seat. Not to mention the skinny profile bulkhead and the asymmetrical bulkhead (and a slider but that's for a different thread). If anyone has one of these seats will you please post some pics. The bus in this pic is such a curiosity that it's kind of hard to use it as much of a reference point.

looks like a 8 fuse screw terminal fusebox, which dates that bus as roughly a late 1960. _________________ The Obsolete Air-Cooled Documentation Project http://oacdp.org/ |

I would say that it is a '62 prototype sliding door bus.
note the low top passenger seat and the folding drivers seat. '62 only.
also cargo floor and B-pillar show that it is a slider. _________________ .

I've only seen these two styles of seats, I'd be interested to know if there are others.
On a side note, for the people that have contacted me: Yes both of the seats I posted pics of are mine and no neither is for sale at this time.
The good news is that I don't think these seats are all that rare, they're still floating around out there. I came up with 2 in a mater of months and got both plus another SS bus for about what some people feel a single seat alone is worth.
PS. I have word another ss bus has surfaced, pics should be up some time soon. |
Yup, mine are curved like that at the rear. _________________ Founder and Chairman Emeritus, ECMSAS

How many SS Kombis?
Let's count.
I've got two.
Aaron has one, I believe.
There is a SS SUNFUCKINGROOF Kombi at Josh H's. in PA
Post 'em here if you know for sure about them.
So, we got EDIT 3 EDIT so far...
My '58 built, "oldest known" '59 swivelseat according to Lind:
My '59 "Johnny's old" swivelseat:
The one and only sunroof SS Kombi:
Oops, Aaron has a panel SS camper and a highroof SS, not a kombi.
Down to Three.
Come on, post 'em if you got 'em. _________________ Founder and Chairman Emeritus, ECMSAS

Your Kombi is 8 (wasn't counted above).
The cut up one doesn't exist currently, so no number there.
Since we are counting existing SS kombis, your panel doesn't count, either. We can count SS panels later, after the kombis are done.
Keep it going, I have 8, can I get a 9?

Hey Ronnie.
What about that Doveblue SS you used to own with the extra passenger SS installed?
I saw it at OCTO last year. Forget the current owner's name.
Any photos of that beauty?
Was it a Kombi or a panel camper conversion? I'm thinking panel.
Edit:
Found a photo, but I can't tell, looks like a panel conversion.
Edit #2: found a shot of the m code plate for this bus, its a 211 panel.
Nevermind, on to the next SS Kombi!

That belongs to Rich at WW, I never owned it. He finally got it on the road last year. He had it on a trailer at OCTO a few years back.
I did borrow one of his seats to make templetes for swivel bases before I found all the seats I needed. _________________ Stocking distributor of "The Funky Green Panels"
