I went racing this last weekend. I did very well! came in first in the STX class, and second in the ST class overall! This is the first time I have raced the bug since I bought it, so it was mostly just to get a feel for it and figure out what to do with the suspension. But it was a great surprise to find out that it did pretty well. It just has a tick of understeer, even off throttle.

SKT, no need to jump in here and defend me. If people say it's an ugly car, they're right. I am in the process of stripping all the grey, black, and yellow primer off of it and getting it back to the OG black paint. Although, it's not going very easy, so I'm considering just doing the minor bodywork and spraying it instead. The wide fiberglass fenders are gonna stay though!

If you need any assistance, you let me know! LOL!

Congrats on kickin some some ass out there, especially being the first time taking it out to race. Do you have any more "action/track" pics?

Curious what suspension mods are already done, as you said it did well. It does have a cool racing raked look going on.

Good luck with the body work and paint. That will be one sick ride when finished! I dig it as it sits now.

I'm assuming this pic you posted in another thread is an interior shot of said car...tight pic by the way.

Man that looks like fun! Cool car, what ever you do with the paint, keep the racing stripes, I think they fit that car perfect. Cool

Way Cool, who cares what it looks like as long as you're enjoying yourself. Very Happy
I did some auto-x this year with my 61 this year, great fun. Need to fix a few things so I can get around the course a little faster.
Not sure why the guy with the mustang was so pissy Wink about getting beat.

lmao, nope. im always cooped up in a garage. to be in a car that is on the edge of control is, in my opinion, the most fun one can have.

1776 with a 120 Engle cam, 044 heads, 40mm Dellortos, and a merged 1 1/2 header. I think it's about 9:1, but it has like 60,000 miles on it by now and still keeps running. No smoke or anything, so I am not looking to rebuild it anytime soon. LOL

Thanks man!

It's got 924S torsion bars in the back, along with a bugpack 3/4 inch sway bar in the back. the front beam is stock width and adjsutable, lowered disk brake spindles up front, disk brakes in the rear, and silver KYB shocks all around. no sway bar in the front for now, but I am going to try and install one again and see how it feels. at that point, i will probably try and increase the front camber as well. I have a lot of things to adjust and play with in the suspension, but for now I am just having a lot of fun with it!

That bug looks really nice! I hope to get mine to look that nice someday, but for now I am going to concentrate on ironing the kinks out of it and making it perform. I love beating the faster cars. it's like an addiction! My favorite is when i turn faster times than that porsche guys. for some reason, they seem to be the most butthurt by it. LOL!

I will eventually paint a stripe on it again, and maybe gumballs on the doors for numbers. I think it looks a lot better in one color though. someday i will pull the body off and get it painted up nice, but for now this will do.
