Apologies if this has been covered exhaustively in another topic... I realize there's at least one other thread about wheel options Wink

Is there a recommendation for a 15" steel wheel that isn't the current GoWesty offering that are strong, bolt on with little modification, and will fit a bigger brake kit?

The idea of Chinese made rims (current GoWesty offering) brings me pause.

Missed the boat on the last of the Mefro's, though from what I understand they don't fit a bigger brake kit without extensive caliper grinding.

I know there's a vast offering of alloy options, though none are really doing it for me besides the SA Starburst (which are near impossible to get these days).

Thanks so much!

VW Buli Parts in Germany sells the Merfo 15” and 16” steel wheels. I’ve had good luck shipping with them, it’s slow but not heinously expensive. That’s where I ordered my stainless exhaust.

Mercedes Benz steel wheels came in 15 x 6.5. They fit over my G57 calipers fine as long as the wheel weights aren't in the way!

Don't know about the big brake question, but my current go-to is the Passat steel 15x6 ET37 wheels from ECS tuning. OEM VW, $69 + free shipping. A Diablo carbide 67 mm hole saw and you are good to go.

this is the correct answer.
these wheels can be had dirt cheap if you are resourceful. they require no spacers and fit factory hubcaps or lug covers and certain big brake/rear disc kits AND fit in the clamshell!!

it should be noted that they do require "late model" (17mm--M14x1.5) lug bolts that are "small ball" seat that are also readily available. not so much for the matching nuts that can be had through T3 technique. get some bespoke ball joints while you're there!

Whether your big brakes fit will depend on the kit - I'm aware that some of the big brake conversions are recommended for use only with a 16" wheel. You'd be advised to check compatability before you click 'Buy' for either the wheels or brakes.
