I posted this over in the buggy forum and thought it might be useful here as well. I didn't like how the rear of the Beard seat mounts that I bought with my Beard Lil' Sportster seats leaned back..seemed more appropriate to a low rider than an off road rig. I also had yet to fabricate a mount for my cutting brake. I combined these two needs into a cross brace/seat mount cutting brake mount using 1x3 box steel and 3/16" 3" steel plate. It attaches to my 3" lift kit on the the outer edges, and thru the floor on either side of the tunnel. The rear part of the seat mounts, which I had to alter by moving the "feet", attach on tabs welded to the 1x3.
This tilts the seats farther forward and up, and allows them to be mounted farther back for long legs. It is sturdy...I believe if I welded a hook of some sort on where the cutting brake is mounted, I could pick the car up with it. |

Thanks. When I was done, I counted the individual pieces I had to make. 27 was the magic number. Coolest thing about it? It completely disappears when the seats are installed, so you can't see my structurally sound but aesthetically challenged welds. |
