|
|
I pulled my '63 Squareback's intake manifold and pre-heat valve to replace the used-up originals with some NOS parts I found only to find out that the NOS "C" manifold I have is different from the original "A" manifold. The "C" manifold does not use a pre-heat valve so the right-side pipe is longer. Does anyone have the "C" part # listed in their parts books? I do not have a listing and now I'm curious when it was used. "B" too as every manifold I have is an "A".
"C" photos:
If anyone has an NOS "A" I would like to buy it. Or trade for the "C" or whatever. I want my car to have the correct parts since it's low mileage.
I have an NOS pre-heat valve ready to go:
The pre-heat pipe on my original exhaust broke off too so it was not a good day:
You can see someone already welded it in the middle. _________________ How to Post Photos

That is what happens to low mileage cars that dont get driven enough.
I know I do not have any T-3 side draft manifolds in stock. Sorry. _________________ Society is like stew. If you don't keep it stirred up, you end up with a lot of scum on the top!--Edward Abbey

Thanks for the feedback so far.
I guess it's so rare that no one has a car like that.
I'm actually wondering if it's only for cold-weather climates. I don't see any reason to eliminate the warm-up valve unless it's so cold out that you need it to continue pre-heating all the time. Unless VW decided later it just wasn't needed... or something in the 32 PHN-2 allowed the elimination. I have never owned a 32 PHN-2 to examine the differences. _________________ How to Post Photos

This notchback is a 71 standard. Not a 72 but it shows you they are out there. This was all stock with side draft motor and the cool little dual port tin to single port tin dealies next to the intake manifold. _________________
