Long story short, 5 years ago the engine in my bug overheated and went kaput, so I ordered a 1776 kit to build a real nice motor for it. I never had the time for it between other hobbies work and other things. Besides, the garage is unheated and I hate working in the cold garage.
Anyway, I got tired of looking at my poor bug rotting away in the same spot. I recently picked up a used 1600 for a good deal to throw in it while I build the nice 1776. I've been so VW crazy the past couple weeks, telling my wife everything I want to do to it so it can be road worthy again, she says to me:
"Why don't you just use our tax rebate check for your Beetle so you can drive it by this summer?"
My wife is so wonderful and understanding.

Sorry guys mine should take the award if any for the most supportive not only did she encourage me to buy my 72 superbeetle but over the past 3 yrs bought many parts for me without me knowing that she had even ordered them. best example was two complete new front wheel wells @ over 600.00 each. She also put aside enought from our tax rebate for me to put the floor in my garage but today i spent 450.00 to transfer the title and get her registered....she wasnnn't even upset except when i told her i was cancelling my floor because i spent so much today on the bug. I feel a bit guilty now though she says i should go ahead and do my floor anyway. How much better could a bug lover have it have it than married to such a wonderful wife.
p.s i'll let her read |

My girlfriend can't stand the fact that I work on the "POS" bug. Or that I "waste" money on her... um it.
You guys are so lucky. |

I hadn't had an ACVW for 20 years when out of the blue my wife of 30 years drags home a junkyard '73 with everything I need and more piled in it and our car trunk. Somebody's unfinished project.
Got me started on VW's again and now I've got a low miles '71 SB and I'm about to buy a '74 bus.
But I'm not allowed to talk about VW's anymore.

Your wives sound great! That's why I now have an ex-wife. She complained that my 67 442 took up too much garage space, my motorcycles were worthless and my truck and JEEPs were preventing her from having a new house. She complained so hard and made life so miserable I sold my 442, bikes and one JEEP. Cost me a lot when she finally left, but made me the happiest guy ever! I did get to keep the house!
My girlfriend not only loves the cars, she feeds the addiction. It was due to her that I bought my latest bug (was a birthday present for us) and got the bug fever started again after 15 years. _________________ 1965 Beetle "FireBug"(gone but not forgotten)

Thanks man! It's nothing special, and sure isn't perfect, but I love it. Can't wait to get it on the road again. _________________ -Andy-

Since everyone's praising their better halves, I'll chime in. Mine actually recommended I buy my '69, always supported me in buying the parts, couldn't wait to go for the first ride in it after I got it done, and even wants me to keep it and enjoy it now that it's my daily driver, instead of selling or trading it for another one to resto. Before this one, neither of us had ever even ridden in a bug. She's a keeper and so's the car. _________________ '69 Standard Beetle |

TOP THIS...
My wife has a long skinny arm, and can actually reach all the way down into that tight crevice at the corner of the dash board. While retrieving a part I dropped down there she actually pulled out a tool from a previous owner.
I'm thinking of listing her in the classifieds as a "rental". |
