Looks wrong. Limit stop is messed up somehow. The thing on the floorpan.
Every now and then I get a piece of gravel stuck in it, have to pry that out.
Or rather I used to have that problem, I think I drilled a hole right under that spot so the gravel falls though now.

Is it me or does the left pedal look extended, like from one of the kits. for guys with big feet and have a problem driving with a stock pedal.

No, this is a right hand drive car so the clutch peddle would be in the stock position. It's the brake peddle AND gas peddle that have been moved to the right.

To the OP, it looks like your hose clamp/dingle stop is not doing the job. What I would do is get or make another proper stop to bolt on the floor in front of the brake peddle like it used to have. You cannot move the stock one because it is still needed for the clutch peddle.

I would also take a serious look at the shaft strength of your extension. I can see it bending under the force of a hard emergency stop with the extra leverage it now has. Change it out to tool steel maybe? I don't think the stock one is very hard.

A better fix I think would have been to extend the brake peddle length and put an big "S" curve in it. Then it would need a bit of reinforcement so that it did not twist under pressure. That would have taken the strain off the shaft itself.

As far as i can see... Thats a standard RHD pedal cluster.

As has been mentioned, the stop for the clutch/brake is worn.. missing.. misaligned...fubar'd...

The hose clip is holding a small "L" shape piece to act as a stop for the brake pedal... cos the original one is....see above..

Lift the carpet... look between the bulkhead and the pedal cluster, and you should see something like this..

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vw-Beetle-67-79-Brake-P...635-2958-0

But in mild steel... held on with one 8mm bolt. It could be a ball of rust... it might not even be there!.. but you should be able to see the threaded hole...

Bottom line - you need one. The adjustment of this stop will allow you to set the "rest" position of the clutch and brake pedal.

Not difficult to retro fit, or even make your own plate...

You will have to loosen the pedals/cluster to install it.

No it is not a stock RHD peddle cluster and that stop is not wide enough to do both of his peddles.

Ok my man Cool

Just for the record, I've been involved with, driven, and fixed RHD vws for 30 years of my life.
I've seen many, many of these. Its pretty common. I have fixed this problem multiple times.

Hope my answer helps in some way Ken.
