One of those crate motors showed up at bugjam in fla a few years ago but it was locked up. I don’t think it was that high.

I see he's doing that thing where he's like "I put $30,000 into it, therefore it must be worth more than $30,000."

The car had a build thread here, IIRC, and was sold in 2018 by Drew Colome after the initial work was completed. Whoever bought it put in the current interior and is now selling it after 3 years of ownership. They probably paid too much for it and are hoping to recoup that money + some.

It's funny that Randy is posting the original restoration photos from the previous owner's work as having been done by the current owner (unless they bought it back for some reason).

35K is only, maybe 7-5k high, maybe. As it should be since thats the negotiation zone.

So taking away the fact that this is a late square - T3's in general are selling between 20 to 30k regularly. Mostly early examples. T34's have reached heights that most - if their whining and attitude of 1980 pricing is true - cant afford. Its no longer a matter of when gentlemen, its here now and has been for awhile. I just sold my freshly restored 1974 hard top Westfalia at NADA - Blue Book pricing. Took about a month to do so. The average VW dude you were 25 years ago isn't buying them either. Its a whole new crowd, with money, ready to enjoy some of the stories you've been telling for the past 30 years. Wink Laughing

I have never sold any of my cars for at or below supposed market value. Always higher and either at what I want or slightly below. Same with parts. Those suckers a little investments waiting to happen. Im not special, there are plenty of others doing this as well.

Rust and shit paint do not add value to a car ultimately and the exceptions are few. Having stainless steel doors on your fridge does not make it a sub zero. Laughing This also has a laundry list of PO changes not in line with a 64.

The entire floor pan and rear subframe, for example, are from a 69 or later car...

Agreed. Why didn't they finish repairing the right rear fender, and color match it to the good paint? Isn't that what body shops do? Seems kind of stupid to screw up the existing nice paint (fauxtina it) and clear coat it with a crappy job.
Is the guy from the Methford area? Not sure where Grants Pass is in Oregon.

Grants Pass is still in the State of Jefferson that we're trying to give to Idaho! Smile

Actually not a whine, I just didn't know where else to post. A fair deal I think. About 3.5hrs from my house. I just don't have a love of notchbacks for some reason.

Yeah, that's probably a good deal. Really depends on what it comes with (ad was a little vague). I paid a grand for mine, then spent 3+ months repairing rust. The PO pop riveted steel ducting metal for patches, then bondoed over them. That was an interesting repair. Fortunately I had a pan set up that was ready to bolt on under it to make it a runner (which I did, and have been doing since).

Having a Squareback, Fastback, and a Notch here, I really like the Notch, but that's me. Being short like I am, I have trouble seeing out the back window of a Fastback.

"It never caught on"... Laughing Laughing Laughing Rolling Eyes

You used to see mote Type 3s than Beetles on the road, I hate to tell that talking head. The problem was that people drove Type 3s into the ground and they rusted, plus there was never great parts support for them even from the dealers after about the mid 80s, so they got scrapped.

Methford??? Really........ I'm sure your town is free of all narcotics. For the record Grants Pass is about 30min from Medford.
