everything that left the Karmann factory rusts. No clue why. The BMW's that Karmann built are the same, as are the Karmann built 911 and 912's

maybe they didn't get the same etch primer dip or something

I agree. Sometimes I swear it was an option for t3 razors lol. I have a long list of buyers lined up for rust free t34s. Last one sold 25 years ago in San Diego for $2500

Well, when I had mine apart (my 64 T-34) I found a lot of places that were just bare metal, or only had primer overspray on it. I firmly believe that rust was standard equipment on a T-34, due mostly to them not submerging the body like VW did to their "in house" vehicles.

If you look thru my T-34 rebuild thread, you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. Add a wet climate, some road salt, and watch it disappear. That was my biggest concern about the car, it continuing to rust after the rebuild. I sealed it up as best as I could, but I also knew there were parts that I couldn't get to.

Not really a whine... I'm trying to figure out why TF this hasn't sold yet. A '73 Notchback is every bit as rare as a '61, and I'll bet you I have seen more '61s! Shocked

I'm just wondering why his grandpa changed his name when he sold him the car? Wink

No pics of the engine, and he says it runs, but no more than that.

Still, I agree, a rare car, nice to drive, and anyone can get the engine in shape.

Very cool 3 point low back front seats. Very Happy
Nice car though. If it were here in the states, it probably would have already sold.

More than likely he's asking that because it's "original" (although it isn't).

Been a member for 11 years (as of today), never posted and has had 6 classifieds. I'd be willing to bet it was this car every time.

I looked and he only had some other parts ads for Porsche seats and a Super Beetle dash.

Yes, in general, the value of Patina only applies to original paint.
There are some exceptions however.
I can't think of a situation where it would add $20K to a Type 3 but other models - Possibly.
