NOS or new aftermarket?
As far as I'm concerned, for NOS, it better be in VW box.
Ad says "clear side marker lenses" while the package says "Red/Clear". Looks to me like it sat in the sun for a few years.

Whoa

Similar (not German) for $5 and $15 in the classifieds right now.
(actually, the ad above comes to $50 + 4% paypal + 7.25% tax + $7 ship, for a total of $63. |

My car is a 64 with just over 30k original miles - sat in a garage for over 20 years in California and needed floors - it's possible. Depends on how the car is driven and taken care of... |

i have never seen one of these carbs for sale as NOS |
I have, it was around 1/3 the price. |
What, exactly, is supposed to be the appeal of a NOS carburetor? It's going to need to be taken apart, cleaned, gaskets probably replaced, diaphragm probably replaced and then put back together...why not just rebuild one that's $100? |

It's probably not worn out in other areas - throttle shaft, etc.
For a side-draft I'd rather have one that is known to be good or was recently correctly rebuilt/rebushed.
There have been a couple people on the site that ran NOS Bug carbs without issues. They did nothing to them at all. I would be worried the diaphragms would fail quickly though. _________________ How to Post Photos

Throttle shafts can be re-bushed for less than $100.
I wouldn't trust NOS diaphragms with ethanol fuels. |

I enjoy reading the 'end of Summer' sales that happen each year when people realize that their ambition doesn't match their bank account...
Engine is present but not running, transmission in unknown condition, torn apart - probably hastily put back together...Asking $3500...if you move it around with a front loader - no chance in hell anyone with a brain is paying more than $800. But who knows - perhaps there's a bag of $100 bills in the glove box.

Love to pick this up as a project esp. since the engine turns over, body & pan appear to be in good shape _________________ I'm the humblest guy on this board.
