|

Anyone ever see one of these?
I've seen a couple notchbacks and a squareback with something like this on top of them. Seems like they had a roof rack, and then a tent on top of it. I'd be worried the roof wouldn't handle the pressure.
Any idea where to find one? I bet they're rare as hell.

Its not the roof thats taking the weight. Its the drip rails on the roof and that can definately handle the weight. _________________ Formerly known in the forums as "OVALTEEN"

A friend of mine has ,I believe, two of those for beetles. Niether are in real good shape, but one is useable. Has a ladder that goes up to it _________________ Greg

I've seen them for all sorts of aircooleds. Someone was reproducing them not too long ago. There was an add in HotVW's . _________________ Formerly known in the forums as "OVALTEEN"

West Coast Classics sold an excellent reproduction a few years back. _________________ "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." Dobee, Dobee, Do |

I have always thought one of the tents from this Italian firm would look nice on top of a bus. They are expensive but sound like they are rugged and convenient.

I don't get it.
Why not just pitch a tent on the ground next to the car? |

I've always been partial to these-
There is an original postcard that shows one on a bug. I'll try and dig it up. _________________ "My biggest worry is that when I die, my wife will sell all my parts for what I told her I paid for them"-Jon

Wasnt there a company that made a run at these tents again like 10-15 years ago. Seems I remember seeing something in VW Trends or HVWs or some such. _________________
