Serviced the battery and installed an old-school disconnect switch (developed by my dad in the 1930's).
After that I installed my new, correct dark brown Bosch distributor cap.

Looking good iowegian funny how just some small things finish things off. How do you like the plug wires you have installed, are they a decent length and not way too long like most for sale now? Could you show a shot of their routing?. Thanks |

The plug wires are an extra set of Bosch that I got from Rocky Mountain Motorworks over 20 years ago.

Great looking car. I really like the correct red fender beading too. |

hope you also installed an automatic halon system... either that or you wanted to install a seat heater for the right rear passenger.

Thanks for your concern, but if you look again you'll see that the disconnect is on the negative battery terminal so not much chance of shorting out as long as the positive terminal is protected. |

Good call. On a positive not, perhaps I helped someone that looked at the pix and decided to install on the positive side. |

My carburetor began leaking from multiple locations, leaving the float bowl drained after a few hours/overnight. Thankfully, a good man at a car show in November gave me an extra carburetor for free.
So, last night I took the spare carb apart, boiled all the parts in lemon juice, and rebuilt it this morning. This was my VERY first time rebuilding/cleaning a carb. I'm very proud of myself!
Old, leaky carb next to freshly cleaned and rebuilt carb:

I figured out a non-invasive way to mount these little European Tourist badges that I got from a gentleman in Budapest, Hungary. Mounted them to a cardboard visor sleeve.

this week I finally pulled the body off my 64 and sanded the roof down to bare metal without looking at the weather thinking "oh I'll just prime it tomorrow" and realized it was going to rain and had to cram it into our garage with our two other bugs tight squeeze!

Put new thermostat into 67 and tested all was working as well as adjust with use of heat gun.

I installed a new "hot start relay" as I was having problems with the car starting. It worked out nicely. I'm proud of my self as I'm fairly new to bugs. |

I just pieced together a complete thermostat unit for my 67. Mine was MIA (thank you Mr.PO) when I bought it, got the bracket at a VW swap and the thermostat and rod from a local VW shop. Where you able to install it with the engine in the car, or was it out of the car? I picked up two rods with it one is a little longer and has a different shape. Thanks for the heads up about AP products.
