I decided maybe the car would be better off through the winter without a cover on it while it sits behind the garage so i took it off this morning.

Since I had the cover off I thought I might as well see if it would start, i bought the car 5 or 6 weeks ago and never touched it after getting it home. Started right up after a week of sub zero temps. |

Same here. We had temps in the 20's last week, All week!
Yesterday I pumped the throttle pedal twice and turned the key. The engine started with real ease.
I spent most of a couple hours running errands around town.
Plus I had to wear the rust off the front disc brakes. _________________ I have learned over the years.

After years of driving with an OG cracked flexy steering wheel.
I bought myself a Christmas present this year.
A 350mm MOMO Super Grand Prix, Mahogany steering wheel.
The installation tool all of 30 minutes. Start to finish.
I'll have to run a new positive wire to the horn button later this weekend. _________________ I have learned over the years.

Today I replaced the clutch cable, clutch hook, bowden tube, and wing nut.
Yesterday I tried adjusting my clutch for the first time since I got the car, and wouldn't you know it, the wing nut and the clutch cable both stripped their threads. I went ahead and tried to recut the threads on both, to no avail. Today I got the parts delivered from a place in Mesa via Lyft. Took me most of the afternoon and, tired and sore as I am, I am triumphant. Thanks be only to God. |

Good job Bob!
Sore? You should try that stuff when you're at an advanced age, like me 63.

I installed a modern fuse block in my 67 yesterday.
I got tired of the intermittent headlights, turn signals and wipers, due to corroded fuses and the holders. I have been dealing with this issue since 2016. No more!
Shockingly, everything worked after I replaced the fuse block.
If you don't like it. Keep cleaning your fuses and holders.

Very cool! I never knew such a thing could exist. Must be satisfying to have everything working again.
And yeah I am sometimes AMAZED at how people 60+ can do some things I'm getting sore over! :p |

This is the company that I bought the fuse block from.
$69 is a pretty good deal, in my book!

It was in the 50s and dry and sunny so I messed with the emergency brake on the 67 I bought about 6 weeks ago and got it unstuck so I took it for a drive over to my friend Pats house. This was the first time I had it out.

This morning I replaced the front shock absorbers on my '66 Beetle with correct Sachs parts. No fasteners were frozen----just cracked 'em loose and took them apart wit my old fingers (and I'm only 15 years older than 67 Rust Avenger) |

Very cool! Is installation as easy as their ad states? _________________ .

Yes!
Disconnect the battery ground.
Transfer the wires from the old fuse block to the new one, one at a time.
Install the new fuse block in place of the old one.
Reconnect the battery ground.
Check that all the circuits are working.
Smile!
Takes about half an hour. If you're slow, like me.
The block comes with 7.5amp fuses. I changed the #1, 2 and 9 fuses to 10amp. _________________ I have learned over the years.

Yesterday I adjusted my valves to a loose .006, and installed roof rack locks on my roof rack.
Today I cut off my leaking axle boot and replaced it with a new, hopefully non-leaking axle boot!
This is my daily driver, so it's getting the use it was made for, revealing any weaknesses as I go along. I'm heading on another road trip to Austin TX from Phoenix AZ in about a week. I feel like I'm slowly restoring the car's mechanicals while the body slowly gets more dents, dings, and scratches. Well, at least ten years from now I'll have one of those patina rides that are all the rage these days... :p |

Pulled the body off and started preps to disassemble the chassis.
Lots of work ahead but that's what makes it fun |
