Thank you.

Was out getting it all scuffed up with some 800 grit today. I think I am going to shoot 2 more coats of yellow then clear it next weekend.

I was able to get it all taped up un Saturday and was able to lay down 2 more coats of yellow and 4 coats of clear on Sunday.

My gun adjustment was much better than last time and it laid down well. A couple of little dirt flecks but I don't have the best of conditions. I would say its an 8 out of 10.

I am going to try to coat the underside tonight with some bedliner and then we can finally start the re-assembly!

The back sides of the hood and rear hatch have been coated with bedliner. I hate that job.

In a couple of days I think I can start rebuilding the 3 CNC reservoirs and then getting the brake and clutch system working.

I have been home sick as a dog for 5 days but today I just HAD to do something. Even though my head feels like a balloon I decided to go out and play.

Here are some slightly better pictures of the painted Avenger:

I also installed a set of door braces I fabricated. The door structure is so weak that I thought these might add some stability. I also fabbed up a metal plate to seal off the hinge area:

And I got my wipers installed. Not the easiest kit, but they work well.

I am restoring the headlight buckets which are early Corvair. Not an easy task! Rotted out adjusting springs, broken plastic adjusters, corroded adjusting screws. A total mess. I also mounted one CNC reservoir for the clutch and have two more for the brakes. If I can dig a path to my shed I will get the fuel tank in and then its on to the wiring and interior.

I am in between sports with my son right now so I am actually getting some time with the Avenger.

I am almost done buttoning up the front end mechanicals. Here are some pics. You can see the custom gas tank (I think I am going to need an electric pump), the battery mount I built, the hydraulic clutch, and dual master cylinders. The battery cable still need 2 more clamps, but I ran out of them.

I also did some carpeting work out back as well. I built a wooden structure in the rear and it houses three little compartments. The center one will be for the fuse block and grounding terminal strips. It will have a hinged cover also covered in black carpeting which will cover everything.
I positioned (but not secured) the fuse block and pulled some wires before I had to finish for the night. Wiring is going to be a boatload of fun!

I also installed the aluminum vent covers and front intake piece:

I also decided to get some tail light tinting spray and give the rear tail lights (from an 84 Corvette) some black tint. Its tough to see from this picture but they actually look black and then light up red. I thought the blacked out look would match the yellow/black theme I am developing.

I start the wiring in earnest this week.

Wiring is 2/3rds done. Dash is now all wired with plugs for the circuits so dash can be removed. All plugs are coded and I have a 5 page wiring "book" that will go to the new owner so they can follow the wiring sequence.

The plugs to all the wires from the front are also connected so I now have 20 something from the back that need to be terminated and installed in their plugs.

I also installed the rear tail lights. The flash makes the red show more but they look black in regular light.

I picked up a set of new factory Five front marker lights that I think will look good for less than 1/2 of what they sell for at Factory Five. I also got a neat little real (amplified..not a silly stick on one) shark fin antenna. I was going to go power but this little antenna will fit right on the roof line and is black so it will blend with the strip.

Lastly, I picked up a pair of Vitaloni "style" (ie: knock-off) California mirrors that I am debating on using or not.

Well the wiring is done...well almost. I need to put everything into conduit but I won't do that until I test everything, which means the dash has to go in.

To get the dash in I had to fabricate internal panels and lay the carpeting. It took me 16 templates to get the carpet in. The last 2 panels are the side panels behind the seats. They are ready to be templated and covered.

Not sure if I will keep the centers gold or paint them black. What do you think? Keep gold or go black?

They fit my bolt pattern, have 2 new tires and 2 tires at 70%. They are cool I think! And a GREAT price!

Black it is.

They are real 2 piece wheels (ARE398) so the centers will be able to come for painting which will make it so much easier....after removing 28 bolts per wheel. It will also make polishing the hoop alot easier.

I still have the same black paint I used for the stripe so I will be painting the moulding around the front/rear windows, the headlight trim, the license plate light trim & my front blinker trim.

The interior is just about done so the seats are going in and then the doors are going back on.

Tweak the doors, add the weatherstripping, and then decide on a motor.

Well I took some interior shots. The flash certainly shows off all the dust!
The bolts you see will be replaced with stainless button head which are used throughout the car.

Looks like the dropped pans on my Avenger are a wee bit narrower than I expected.

No way the seats I wanted to go in it are gonna fit.

Anyone have a suggestions for a seat with a 16" base?
