Wayne -
Nice kit.
What is the conduit running along your beetle's body and pan?

How many miles between electron fill-up?

You need discs on an electric car? Cool! I was thinking of getting that same kit for my 72, but got a killer deal on a Ghia setup instead. |

I work for an electric commuter railroad, bet I could get some help to convert mine!
The $195, does that also include the new hoses and bearings? I've been looking at that one for awhile, just when I get some play money something else takes it ... cam, heads, rear wheel cylinders etc. etc. etc. _________________ 1973 Standard Beetle |

I was looking at the kit also, but the caliper bracket was always my concern. The stamped steel flex, the 2 piece welded one break.
I was looking at 1 piece solid mounts, if it's cast and is thick maybe I better give it another look before getting a billet setup.
To my knowledge you still need to add lines and seals? _________________ Selling the SB:

The price does not include the new hoses and bearings.
With hoses, bearings, seals, tax and shipping the total was $278 _________________ Additional products https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/search.php?username=Wayne+S.+Johnson

i have a 73 bug. i told autozone that but the stock size inner bearing doesn't fit. the stock size outer does, so does that mean that i need inner bearing from a different year? _________________ Sometimes my Bug has too much character. |

Just a little insight here on the fabricated brackets. I installed Disk brakes on my 1962 Ford F100 Pickup several years ago. The setup uses Chevy big car Calipers along with later Ford pickup Rotors. The Brackets to mount the Calipers to the Ford spindles was made up about the same way as the brackets in the picture. Looks like they are lapped over each piece and welded together, mine are the same. They do not flex and I have not had any breakage so far and the pickup is a little more that twice the weight as my bug, about 4000 pounds with no load on it. That being said, I have bought the Ghia type setup to convert my bug to disks when I get to it. I did not know that this setup was availeable or I may have bought it instead, doesn't make any difference now, since I have already spent my money and would not be worth shipping back for that price difference. Just something to think about, as has been mentioned in a couple of the above posts.

I had been planning on using this same system but I never seemed to have the money. Well I decided to check the price again and noticed that the price has skyrocketed. I seem to recall that it might have been more than a new spindle kit. Granted you would have to buy new ball joints which adds to the cost, but once again I won't be buying it from AC Industries, instead I will find a Ghia setup and use that. _________________ 1973 Standard Beetle |
