doesn't seem like a good idea cantilevering the whole air filter as well as the weight of the oil off the neck of the 32 PBIC Confused

Agreed. Looks like they braced the neck of the connecting pipe, but the weight is still on the neck of carb.

If you look at the drawings in the road test for the Ghia application it does show the bracing...although no suggestion of any further support:

You'll find the full test in the Vintage Speed sticky here:

Where is this bracing? Just can't see it! Embarassed

By the way, Alejandro confirms there are only 30 Mag Superchargers worldwide..this rare compared to Pepco and Shorrock?

If you compare the aircleaner in the drawing with an original here:

...you'll notice the profile on the modified tube linking the oil bath with the carb mount looks to have been reinforced. Making an additional brace that fitted to the fire wall wouldn't have been too difficult.

Probably more than 30 Pepcos about, less than 10 VW Shorrock Kits but it's all conjecture. Nobody really knows.

Right here! They probably thought this was the most cost-effective, rather than adding a brace to the engine, or adding a brace to the body with a flexible air hose.

Right, in other words, where the cut and the weld/reconnection occurs act as the reinforcement. Makes economic sense..wonder how it would handle with daily driving/vibrations and whether it would slowly let itself go from the carb being cantilevered this way. I guess regular checks would prevent this from transpiring. Wink

So what are your plans, do you have the early wing-nut Ghia aircleaner to adapt? I see your MAG has the central arrangement for the aircleaner.

G'Day, being that the Mag Supercharger runs a Solex 32PBIC carb, can anyone confirm if it remains bone stock or are the jets or venturis changed for the Mag application and if so, does anyone here know? I'm just in the process of having mine recoed and the mechanic asked me this questions. I realize this is a difficult question being that there's probably only 3 or 4 running around worldwide..

Thanks nonetheless!

Thanks for that, do you have the owner's contact detail? It appears to be a 40HP if I'm correct..

Yes, I forgot this is a lowlight thread, sorry. It's a 61 cab, I think.
