Are you going to sell "BONE ME" T-shitrs? You'd sell a lot of them at monster truck events. |

I live in Los Angeles, some areas are full of old vws. I drive a 69 fastback and I've seen maybe 4 other ones, which is pretty good for a fastback. lots of busses in Venice and the beach cities, clean ones too. lots of bugs, you can find on on almost every city block. |

I am new to New Jersey as well as new to the VW Community? Hobby? Addicition?
I live in South Jersey (Ewing) and I just bought a 1967 Split Bus. Still working on all of the New Jersey Insurance and registration Bullshit, but hopefully in the next week or two I will be driving the Gus Bus daily. Keep your eyes open if you're on this side of town.
Also, keep us updated on the BONE NJ club. Sounds like fun.
Later,

Hello, I'm from Freehold, NJ and have 5 VW's. Just read an article in VW Trends regarding VW parts being abundant in NJ.
MANY VW boneyards in NJ.
I see many air cooled VW's (aside from mine) around. Not much pre'67 though. They say that the salt on the road does more damage than the good 'ole Atlantic Ocean. Especially when the snow has melted and you are kicking up salt water.
There is a central NJ VW Club in Neptune, NJ with a large membership.
Take Care! |

Hello [email protected]
Ewing no kidding?
You must be new as I live and work in Ewing and Ive not yet seen your split bus yet.
I have a 65 beetle I just got from Ca since most of the aircooled VW's have been taken by Mother Nature and NJDOT
Hope to see you around town.

I am in Phoenix and on good days/long commutes I probably see five or so a day, mostly Bays and late model Beetles. There are a few split Buses and pre-67 Beetles that I routinely see, however.
We are only a few hours from the border, so it is interesting going to Mexico and seeing the "new" (old-style) Beetles cruising around. You see a lot of "new" Bay logo'd Panels as well. |

I'm in springfield right outside eugene oregon. Got it pretty good vw wise considering how wet it is. Just today I passed 2 21 windows a 23 window, a 57 dd panel(big sticker says 1957 in the window), a freak bus that used to be a 23 now turned dd panel with skylights and no sunroof, 64-67 dd panel under a tarp(new one to me), 64-67 hard top westy, and more bay windows than I care to count. I know of alot more. see some of them at www.geocities.com/eugenebuses |

that is the right link above it just didn't post as a link for whatever reason. you'll have to copy and paste if you want to go.
so as not to be biased there are alot of bugs, type 3's, and ghias running the streets too, I just don't notice them as much. |

ClassicCamper, i was one of the 3 founding members of that club. it started at World VW back in 1990. i stopped being a member back in 98 when my time got tight and the meeting place got further away. good people in it and i still have contact w/ a lot of them. My question is Where are all of these junkyards in NJ???? i used to know of one in Tuckerton that had old vws but the old guy there was a grumper and shooed me away. they leveled the place a few years back and probably crushed everything. i think we should definitely get a group of bus owners together in tri states like earlyman says. still not seeing any pre 67's here. i did over 700 miles this week and saw a total of 3 and all were post 68 bugs with the exception of 1 Thing. |

Hey [email protected],
I might have seen your bug. BTW, I am still working on the NJ registration and Insurance. I am a believer that NJ is the worst for Insurance.
Where are all of these NJ VW Junkyards? Classic Camper?
Later,
RJK

Hey o-bus and RJKFerris:
That's it "World Volkswagon"..pleasure to hear from you. As to the NJ VW places, here is the run-down:
- East Brunswick Foreign Auto, contact:Atilla
Contents: Buses, 1 Thing, Westys, many beetles, many ghias, many square backs, and 1 Type 3 Ghia, '412's' I believe they are called, notchbacks. (can you tell I've been there a couple of times?)
- Clarence's VW Restoration: Riveredge, NJ has website. Bugs, Buses, Westy's. Written up in NY Times, daughter rebuilds the engines.
- Myers (609) 767 1248 Biggest selection of VW's I've seen, acres of them. Bugs and Buses (90%) No verts. Many Westy's with interiors, A/C systems, Gas Heaters, one old pick-up (bad shape) If I had to guess about 60 Buses and around 100 bugs. Some Ghias. All 'filed' nicely. (In the middle of NOWHERE all farms around)
Nothing I know of in Monmouth or Mercer Cty's. Many VW repair specialists with parts.
I agree about getting a club together!!
RJKFerris: If your VW is not your primary ride -- call "American Collectors Insurance" in Cherry Hill NJ. You just need to prove you have a primary transport and your VW is over 20 years old. Here is what I pay:
78 Vert: Just turned 25ys so I pay $89.00yr
76 Westy: $99.00yr
74 SB Auto: $79.00yr
78 Westy Auto: (just obtained last week)
I would register it like you would any car. Don't need the antique plates. I haven't been bothered in 15 years. (even with no inspection).
The Westy and Vert are ground-up restorations, bus insured for $15K, bug for 13K. Try them.
RJK:
Do you have ANY leads as to where I can rent garage space for 6 vehicles??? My cars are scattered about in relatives garages!
Happy Hunting! |

one note on insurance. i also use american collectors but they would not insure a volkswagen bus or "van" not sure why not but once i was told by a friend to insure it as a "station wagon" as the title says, i had no problem. i even sent them the photos. i think they do not insure vans for whatever reason???? mine is insured as an antique and i have NJ QQ plates so my mileage is limited but i avoid inspection |

QQ plates are the greatest NJ invention ever!
No inspections, and no restrictions on mileage or operation. The only mileage and use restrictions are from your insurance company.
I use Grundy Worldwide in PA. Costs around $70 per year for my bus. You can't use it for a daily driver, and are limited to 2500 miles per year. If I ever want to do more, I can get a regular insurance policy, but I don't have to change the QQ registration. |

ClassicCamper-
I'm located in Cherry Hill and would be interested in finding out more about the place in East Brunswick. I have 2 Type 3 Ghias and would be interested in seeing the one they have.
I'm in the same boat as far as storing cars, I need to store 4 cars. Let me know if you find a place or maybe a couple of us can go in together and rent a warehouse or something, it may work out to be cheaper that way. Right now I pay $70/month to store one car.
BTW- Clarence's is in Riverside, I highly recommend, I've known Clarence and his son and daughters for as long as I can remember. One other good spot is Foreign Car Services in Mount Holly, Karl does excellent work and has lots of rare parts. |
