Clutch lets off too highon my bug?

my clutch lets off too high on the pedal...ie at the top?....how do i fix this..? tighten the wing nut ...loosten...is the cable stretched...."need new preassure plate..? ect...any insight..the local shops around here are clueless when it comes to vw's//thanks..

what do you mean "lets off"? does it engage at the top? or does it disiengage at the top.

depending on what ride you have, there should be about an inch of free play in the pedal

it may also mean that you need a new clutch
