Anyone ever switch a 67 from 4 lug to wide five? I was wondering about axle length and width issues on a 67. |

Those wheels are not ideal. You are limited to stock tire size. If you want to run 195's you will need a different wheel. Porsche 914 4 lug wheels Mahle, Fuch, etc are all good choices. |

I'm running 185/55-15 on mine. (3:88 trans) Rear is sagging with plenty of room. I was thinking of getting 195/50-15 and raising the rear if it rubs. |

16x6 in the front - yes provided you are going to use stock brakes drilled to the 5x130 pattern. You do not need to narrow the beam. 185 width tire would be ideal.
16x7 in the rear - it could work, but you will have to roll the fender. The extra inch (6" vs 7") is added all to the outside of the rim. So it sits out further. Again - no adapters, drill the stock drums and have studs pressed in.
An easier fit would be 16x6 on all 4 corners.
1969 is IRS - you could narrow the trailing arms to get a little extra room, however, you have to watch the distance as the tire gets closer to the spring plate. As it is you may have to work around the hardware that attaches the spring plate to the trailing arm - double spring plates you can move the bolt around to the rear side - single spring plates you may need to use a carriage head type fastener. |

Empi 8 spokes with 205/50/15 rear and 195/50/15 front.
I'll be going to 205/50/15's front on next tire change. _________________ Current:74 Ghia Coupe w/ 2276

Hi everyone, I have a few tire questions regarding my 58' ghia
the car:
Current setup
Front
14x5.5 fuchs
175/70-14 tires
Rear
15x6 fuchs
185/65-15 tires
right now, the tire height is backwards as the front tires are taller than the rear. Im ordering new tires online, and I know the fronts will be 175/65-14s to get a less meaty look, but....
Will 195/70-15 fit on the rear without problems, or do I need 195/65's

You mean your front sidewall is taller, right? Your front tires are definitely smaller in diameter when you factor in the 14-inch rim:
175/70-14 = 14 inch rim + 9.65 inch sidewall = 23.65 inch diameter
185/65-15 = 15 inch rim + 9.47 inch sidewall = 24.47 inch diameter
If it fits, a 195/65-15 would get you a taller rear sidewall.
195/65-15 = 15 inch rim + 9.98 inch sidewall = 24.98 inch diameter
Keep in mind that the aspect ratio is a percentage of the tire's section width, so a wider tire with a smaller aspect ratio may have more sidewall than a narrower tire with a larger aspect ratio. That's how a 185/65-15 ends up taller than a 145-15, which is an 82 series tire. _________________ 1966 Karmann-Ghia convertible |

You mean your front sidewall is taller, right?
sorry I phrased it incorrectly. the front sidewall is taller than the back, and
it looks "out of wack". I would like to have a shorter tire in the front and
a taller tire in the back to get a "big and little" hot rod stance
do you know if a 195/70-15 would fit? _________________ 1958 Ghia slammed on cosmics (now in France)

YES! You can fit one, no problem. I am running 195/70-15 on a 5.5" flat four fuch with 4 1/2 BS. As I'm sure you know, a lot of it depends on your backspacing. I know some people have squeezed 205s on Ghias.
Your car looks AWESOME!! Here's mine, 69 (IRS)
195/70-15 Continentals..
