| i know that '55 rear seats are unique but how unique are '56 seats? did they really change that much? will any year rear seat fit? |

Will the 56 and later rear seat work in an earlier bug, Like say a 54? 
I have a 54 and trying to figure this stuff out before the interior.....  |

No - the early seats mount differently

Pre '55 rear seat bottoms have 3 support pads welded to the frame. 1956-later use a support bar that bolts at the base of the B-pillar and traverses the width of the car
Pre '55 rear seat backs use a completely different hinge when compared to 1956-later seat backs.
But as Taterbug55 stated above, with some amount of ingenuity, anything can be possible |

| I have a 57 oval / does the rear seat to a 58 fit it? Also, are there any suggestions on how to fit the front fenders/rear deck lid of a 58vw to a 69vw convertible. Any suggestions? |

The front fenders bolt onto the '69, but the early ones with the steel headlight wiring tube are worth more and you would need to remove or modify that wiring tube to install them on a later Bug. The rear deck lid will only fit if you also weld in a '64 or earlier rear apron.
Seats have been covered. In a twist, my '57 oval has '66 Pigalle Bug seats front and back, so it appear that other years physically fit the '56 and newer Bugs. The older Bugs had a quite different rear seat beacue it was installed farther forward (more rear luggage room, less rear seat legroom.)

Any advice for back seat?
any advice what front seats will fit?

Rob, you will find the seats your looking for are very difficult to locate..not the holy grail but priced like they are..greed/ rarity..big $'s...front seats replaced with new rails from Wolfsburg, find 56-64 seats. I to am in the same boat..was negotiating for front seats, $2500.00 ! Fuck that. And fuck him..let a purist have them. IMO. Im not certian weather the back seat 56/64 would slip in?

I know 2500 just for fronts is crazy. I would rather put newer ones in then. Even though my 54 is so rare EURO
Back seat is one year only I read. 55-64 are the same for rear.
I would buy a whole seat of clean 55-64 if all clean and nice and pay up for them. Issue is that even then I feel robbed. Please advise anything or what you did. I found taillights $$$$$$$$$ headlight are easy but $$$$$$$$
ragtop $$$$$$$$$$ batwing wheel $$$$$$$$ I am thinking I should just sell and move on. but I like the car. Keep me posted and I will do the same. I have had some people actually give me some parts from the near by VW club. Give Yes Give for free they know my pain and were generous
