Type 3's are always fun. Thats what I prefer. Gets lots of looks and fun to drive. Never owned a beetle of any year so not sure about the vert. You should take a type3 for a spin and a bug and see which one fits you better.

Riding in a vert is a special experience. Just don't leave it parked somewhere you can't see it in case some nimnod comes by with a knife. |

Gotta keep the Ford,it's paid for. I'm a tough SOB,but every now and then that A/C feels good around Aug.in Houston not to mention P/W,P/B,OD Lumbar support etc. |

In that case, (Now, don't shoot!) I'd sell one of the bays and go for the fastback, because they're less common than T1. But I can't imagine a woman NOT enjoying a KG Vert! |

Type 3 are cool I have been looking at one for sale in my region for over a year and purchased a Ghia. The type three is still there and the wife says no room for another car. We have a beetle and the Ghia. The fastback would be nice though. |

Ok, if your concerned about gas mileage then any VW is the way to go, but if you want to get picky then here you go. Type 3's Vs Beetles, virtually the same asfar as engine and gas consumption, except that type 3's are slightly heavier than beetles and alot less than busses. so in that fact beetles are the best way to go but while your driving a convertable with the top down, that creates more drag, and decreased gas mileage. so it's really up to you. I own a type 3 squareback and I'd like to own a older beetle, but I'm not concerned about gas |

I have a 65 beetle, and after i cough up the loot to put a stroker in it, i'm buying my baby a Jetta TDI (talk about MPG, suckas!) and THEN I'll get what I really want, a 65 Fastback to match my Beetle. who says you cant have it all??? (I say if you gotta choose, pick the fasty - sportier than a square, more storage than a beetle, and less often restored than a notch) |
