Nice.
I have a new ignition cylinder as well but it has a different key profile so my original key won’t fit in the slot. I’m still using the original for now but I have to fiddle with it to get it to turn.
Did you just luck up or is there someplace that sells them with specific keyways? _________________ Volkswagen!

We had a car show in Auckland: Population 1.5 million. For Brit & Euro cars only. 1200 cars. Only 3 Ghias. A lot of polishing and waxing beforehand.
A grandson played in mine. He's already a petrolhead.
A German lady from Duisburg came over for a chat. Mathilde has a red with black top and interior '70 Ghia in her home town. Knows her stuff - pointed out that the lowlight next to my Ghia didn't have the right taillights.
Also received centre caps for my Pedrini wheels from JBugs (who won't ship to New Zealand). Thanks to Crocteau for finding these for me.
Overall, a good weekend. (Wish Nicholas was here.) _________________ Festina lente - hasten slowly

I think they'll look great on your wheels. Glad you got 'em! |

Hi, i found a dune buggy with a 56 chassis. How can i identify if the chassis is from a beetle or ghia? The chassis charts here in "thesamba" are a little bit imprecise. |

Ok, but beetle floors can be welded in ghia chassis. Recently i saw a ghia for sale mounted in beetle chassis. Probably Brasília floors were used |

I lost two days of my vacation fighting with the rear torsion bar bushings..... and lost I am in such a bad mood.....
Somehow, I can't get the spring plate back over the "stop". I raise it with a jack, so it's somehow over, but whatever I do from this point on, it doesn't help! Even banging it with a hammer towards the inside, makes the darn thing jump from it's stop
At first, I had the impression that the bushings are too big/hard, but even after shaving 1-2mm from the width, the result didn't change.....
I think I need a beer....or 12 _________________ Vlad's 72 Ghia (Once in a Lifetime Restoration topic)

Thanks, I will try a stronger one, with more levarage. Maybe it helps more than the simple one I have, in which you can just turn the rod by itself.

I painted and installed the centre caps sourced for me by Crocteau on my Pedrini rims. I'm not exactly Leonardo in the hand painting department, and may remove the paint altogether. The cap on my steering wheel came like this:
The centre caps came like this:
There was a lot of masking and fine shaky hand painting involved:

Looks great. Similar to what I did with my EMPI center caps...

I decided after 5 years my interior was no longer acceptable. Icky seats from nondescript economy car and texture paint dash hiding rivited sheet metal under radio.
A bit more respectable place to sit.
I had to hand sew the basket weave insert into the driver's seat which took a couple hours. Was able to reuse the tracks from mystery seat
Also installed some vintage swaybars but painted black first because the yellow is too flashy peeking out from under the car. The rear is original Empi circa late '60s/ early '70s and the front is called
a Turn 6, not sure when made.
This required welding and was the main reason I avoided doing the dash until now. Welded a patch panel and finished with Bondo because I'm no master of metal finishing...

A wise old man - who happened to be the VW dealer - once told me that there are three places where you should create a happy ambience for yourself: Your office, your bed (meaning marriage bed) and your car.
Your Ghia's interior looks like one of your happy places. Well done. _________________ Festina lente - hasten slowly
