This was a while ago, but I deleted the turn-signals and installed amber LEDs inside the fresh-air grilles.

Finally done the replacement of rockers and heater channels. Well over a month but no insurmountable issues. Molding holes and clean up the lower pinch welds to be done. Door gaps finished off at 4mm. Sill plate (trim) clearance slightly more. Top of windshield frame sitting about 4mm from original measure. Hoping the convertible top adjustment / reconstruction will take that out.
The torsion tube hole is smaller than factory but tested removing and it all worked out.

Looks like some really nice work. This stuff ain't easy to do correctly as you probably know, but the rewards are well worth it. _________________ 1959 Karmann Ghia

Tried to get the thing to idle
When parking it 2-3 times in november before winter sleep, I noticed it's running poorly (maybe on 2-3 cylinders), and decided to tackle it in sping (now).
I checked and replaced dizzy, points, condenser, cap, rotor, plug wires, plugs, cleaned carb, adjusted valves (were spot on), made all no difference....
Now I'm waiting for a compression tester.... _________________ Vlad's 72 Ghia (Once in a Lifetime Restoration topic)

The 1915 I built pre-pandemic is finally in the car.

I'm fairly sure that the air cleaners will prevent those props from falling out of the way as intended, but I've ordered a set anyway. For $40 it's worth a shot even if I do eventually go with a gas strut. _________________ '71 Ghia coupe |

Worked on clearing the SP intake manifold pre heat tube. Used 1/4 inch wire and a drill, and lots of PB Blaster and carb cleaner. After cleared, painted, now have to put it together.

Winter is finally starting to fade a bit, in fact here in St. Louis, MO we broke the high temperature record yesterday for March 2nd with a temp of 82 degrees! Gotta love global warming!
So I dove in and cleaned and then waxed the entire '70 Coupe from front to tail and her chrome bumpers too! A lot of elbow grease expended! She's ready for Spring drives. Now if it would just rain like hell for a few days to wash away all the salt on the roads from the past three snow storms in the last month...

My Ghia, also known as Emiko, is in the workshop for replacement of the gearbox - with a freeway flyer - and replacement of the front beam and drop spindles - with an adjustable beam and original spindles.
The new gearbox was put in this week, and some oil leaks and other minor issues resolved. The car runs sweetly, according to the technician. The work on the beam starts this week.
In the meantime, I'm driving around in a Mercedes A170 and a Honda CRV. Automatic, short of a pedal, easy to get in and out with my sore knee, quiet, safe, power steering, but... boring boring boring. I miss even the discomfort of my 54 year old Ghia.
I think it was Darrel who said the work on these cars never stops. _________________ Festina lente - hasten slowly

Did you fabricate the intake(s) to make it lie down? Looks great, would like to do it on my motor. What's the carb you're running? _________________ '70 ghia coupe

Y
Yes, homemade manifolds. Made by a firend.
Needed the blower to lay down to make room to allmost close the enginelid
It’s not much space to wrench the bolts when mountning
I’m using a weber dcoe 40 carburettor. _________________ 65 DD klenbus
