None.
But--a type 2 Bus driveway tent will work, plus there were several other companies that manufactured driveway tents for any Vanagon--
The Westfalia Works didn't have a lock on them-- _________________ T.K. |

Yea they were too busy making Milking manchines weren't they Terry
From a Westfalia Zubehor catalog (sorry, these are copies and don't have a scanner):
You'll be very lucky if you located one stateside. This page has a few years on it now, so I doubt you could still order a new tent unless there are some that never sold but the info is there of what the guy paid at the time and where he ordered it from, which is the same contact info from the catalogs I have
http://www.vanagon.com/info/accessories/westfalia-tent/index.html
VWoA had a nice side tent available for a number of years, Its an actual tent like the older Westy tents were. One of the Crew that I camp with has one. He uses it mainly with his '90 westy, it fits a little better to the vanagon. I'm not real sure the years they were intended for, I'm pretty sure they were later '70's maybe into the vgon years (?) _________________ Markus |

Here is a picture of mine.
I just picked it up from Banjojay67 when he sold his '89. It is heavy but built like a tank. I love it and would recommend it to anyone who is lucky enough to find one. This fits the Vanagon Westy like a glove.
Here is the instruction sheet.
Busgerust 86 (could refer to 1986, which would mean Vanagon) _________________ -- 1987 Westfalia automatic (Captain Vino)

Perles, Thanks for posting the Picture Of the pole layout. That is the exact same tent that came with my 87 Syncro but it did not come with the poles so it has been sitting in the garage for a few years. I like the plasticote fabric seems to be much better than canvas and lighter. Someday I will find or make some poles for it.
Have Fun, David C |

I don't think you are really looking for this, but thought I would show another option that the previous owner had added to my Vanagon. In this configuration, you can have the rear bench seat in use while having bed space for whenever it is needed.

I am curious how it affects mpg and is it not too noisy to sleep here while on the highway?

Answer, several over the years... just happened to call Westfalia in Germany today to price one www.Westfalia-van.de
Search part number 900 001 538 380
+49 5242 150 correct & current phone number
Now called a Scout, it appears to be (finally!!) made of ripstop and poles resembling modern tents. Still pretty blue/red/silver wind tunnel style.
Pricey trading Shrub's dollar that no country wants vs the Euro (dont get me started at .50cents on the 1 euro).
I am pretty excited, going to try and purchase one, even if
Tent 543.0euros
Floor 49.0 euros
sm Bedrm inner tent 49.0 euros.
Figure 900-1200 US. egads.
Maybe it will be cheaper after a huge, collective global exhale on Nov 6th!

Now you've go me excited and I already have one. The new style looks pretty sweet and much lighter weight. Mine weighs 50 pounds. I do love it though. It also maintains a presence in your campsite when you drive away.
Buy two and sell the other to a GoWesty Westy owner at a huge markup.
By the way, you may not even need the floor or the inner room. Just go for the basic tent. You won't be sorry. _________________ -- 1987 Westfalia automatic (Captain Vino) |

What is the going rate for those Westfalia side-tents?
Happy driving

Boy--here's an open ended question.
How much work do you want to do?
Hava an industrial sewing machine, a canvas sewing awl handy?
Wannna use shoe laces to tie the canvas up to the framework?
For a raggy westfalia tent needing work & parts--$250--$475.00
For a pristine "set it up and hook it up to the Van or Bus--$600--$800.00.
The $125.00 price gap betwwen the needy and the perfect is anywhere in between perfect and almost shot--depending on how much or what it need's.
Parts are NLA for the tent, so figure that into the cost differences. _________________ T.K. |

Wow - wild prices.
I have a Westfalia tent in good condition, that I dont need anymore - only problem is that it is in Denmark, Europe - guess that shippingcosts are way to expensive...
But thanks again - quite a pricetag.
Have fun

In Santa Fe for Thanksgiving weekend. I never stop looking, and, dammit.....
http://santafe.craigslist.org/for/1452181787.html
based on this thread, seem high, but what do you think?
I have enough to tote home with two kids and my wife and I.
Seems like 450 would be fair? _________________ Happiness=Portland, Oregon in the rearview mirror! |

I think $450 is a little short for a late model Westfalia tent.
$650 for a one time use tent is pretty reasonable, as long as you don't have to have it shipped to you. _________________ T.K. |

while I agree with the"one time used" TK, I still have to pack it back to OR =(
how can one tell it's used once and deserts tend to be a bit harder on things. Will take a looksie and report back. $$ is the biggest thing, as well as how much I will use it(laborious setup-1 hour). _________________ Happiness=Portland, Oregon in the rearview mirror! |
