The braided fuel line? It comes from the tank on the bottom and returns the unused fuel back to the tank on the top. It acts like modern FI in that there is a jet that regulates the amount of fuel is squirted into the combustion chamber as the fuel passes by in a loop. _________________

WORD OF WARNING about 61 and up beetle installations. MAKE SURE GAS HEATER IS COMPLETELY OFF BEFORE REFUELING!!!
I got in a hurry one winter and thought the combustion chamber was cool enough when I started pumping gas in my 63 bug. Guess what! It wasn't. The fan sucked the fumes in and the fuel fill neck turned into a Bunsen burner. I was able to replace the cap before the heater fan shut down (thanks for the suggestion by a quick thinking fellow customer) before the flames reached the inside of the fuel tank. |

I just installed a B2 in my 75 Beetle restoration. I wanted to thank each of you who provided all the information here, it was tremendous help. Drilling all those holes in the trunk was stressful, but I wanted to share how I figured out where to start, to avoid big errors. It's a chicken or egg situation, the cabin heater air duct is too long to set the thing in place to measure hole locations, and the templates supplied didn't instill confidence, though I will state they ended up in the exact right place on my Type 1, using the template depicting the intake and exhaust combustion air pipe holes with fender bolt hole references from the manual. But what I did that really ensured success was start with that forward large heated cabin air duct, using the photo in this thread showing the hole in relation to the fuse box. I just eyed it up, it was close enough to perfect, and then when setting the unit in place the other 2 combustion holes lined right up with the template I had placed there. Just inserted the forward hot cabin air outlet into the new hole, dropped the rear of the unit down into the trunk and the template holes lined right up. So all in all it was a non-issue. |

Regarding the the two wires you were asking about on the series resistance. The first wire to the glow plug is correct. This photo I got from the galley you will see where one black wire in the lower right side is not connected. That is where your second wire goes. There are suppose to be two wires connected there. The one in the photo and the 2nd series resistance wire. In the photo his series res. wires are not connected.
edit... I took some photos of a 12 volt b2 I have that might be of some help. The screwdriver is pointed at the correct spot. The thicker wire would be your series resistance.

I think it goes to the glow plug - as all B2 glow plugs are 6v. Mistake made when applying direct 12v for to long and destroying the plug. _________________

The glow plug with the "s" at the end has a ceramic core inside the coils of the heating element to keep them in place. Without the "s" has no core.
If the coils overheat, they get soft and will move slightly until they touch, reducing the resistance of the plug, causing the current to increase, making them glow hotter. Eventually the wire melts. _________________

I'm pretty sure there the same seeing how they both take 4 volts to run. There may have been an improvement made and they added the letter to make note of it. I used one out of a 12 volt in my 6 volt and it worked the same. The truth is I never noticed the extra letter until you mentioned it and always understood the 12 & 6 volt were the same.
edit.. I went and looked at the new spare glow plugs I have, one is white one is pink . They both are 194grns and the one in my car has to be the same as the pink 194grns. So if you are wondering about purchasing I would go ahead . |

Good evening voila I found in france on occasion a eberspacher B2 12 Volts
When it will be time to pass the car in 12 volts I will be able to recover two three parts of the b2 6 volts to adapt everything
Meanwhile the 6 volts works!
But I have a question ???
What is the difference between LA BERU 194 GRN AND LA BERU 194 GRNs ?? |

The 12 and 6 volt b2 use the same glow plug. The spring looking piece that hooks to your glowplug regulates it to 4 volts. |

Good evening thomas I confirm my Eberspacher is complete and it does not have the case to decrease the tension of candle as on the B2 12 volts
My candle is a 194 grn and not THE 194 GRNS ... |
