Well, daily driving has its perks. A guy I met at the gas station was admiring my '73, and told me about his son's bus that had been in his storage shed for six years. He asked me if I might know someone who might be interested, and of course, I did. We went over to his storage building, and saw this.
A 79 Transporter stuffed in his shop between a 50's Merc, and a 60's Monte Carlo. It looked in pretty good shape, so I helped him air up the tires, and roll it out.
All in all pretty straight. A slight wrinkle on the nose, and some light rust on the dog legs, but complete. All three rows of seating, motor, trans and title. It rolled freely, turned easily, and the brakes work. Windshield area is perfect.
Anywhoo, I don't really need another bay, but I didn't want it to just sit and rot so I picked it up. First stop was the car wash, so my wife didn't kill me too bad when I got there, and it really cleaned up pretty well.
Anyway, just thought I'd share. Whatcha think? _________________ '73 Transporter - Driver

She took it better than I thought. "So why do we need four busses again?"
I yanked out the sculpted carpet ( ) and the OG rubber mats are all still there. _________________ '73 Transporter - Driver

Nice find there and congrats on saving it... Gonna spruce it up and sell it? Looks like it could be a great turner. Good luck _________________ In search of a Vanagon

<What's with the sliding windows?>
Wasn't '79 the first year for those windows? It was the only way I was able to tell the '78 and '79 apart. |

Personally I think you should've went for the 60's Monte Carlo. Since the first production model was built in 1970, a 60's prototype would've really brought some cash, lol. Nice score. Peace! _________________

No, the sliders first year is 1978.
Look for the large hole in the left end of the rear valance. They are 79 only!!!
