My wife says she doesn't feel safe in my '63 bug. Something to do with a grab handle on the dash and not as much padding as her PT. She refuses to drive it tho. Not sure what she will do when her PT breaks or needs service and she HAS to drive it.
She did however find my '60 bug and bought it for me. |

My wife hated the '57, loves the 'vert-except for the ride. It's got a ChopShop 5 inch beam and 2.5 dropped spindles.
The '57 had no interior except for seats, solid tranny mounts and a built 1835 with a S&S Hideaway header. What's the problem honey ?? |

My wife gave up her parking spot in our garage for my Squareback. She was the one to suggest that we leave her car outside and I love her for it. Well thats just one reason why I love her : )
She is not too thrilled to ride in the Square because it does not have AC. Otherwise she likes it in the cooler weather. Too bad there is not much cool weather here in Florida. |

I am the wife and it's my car. He just is there to help with bolts I can't get loose. He will ride in the passenger seat when it's done too. _________________ '63 Beetle "Gertie"

She wishes I spent as much money on her. Also as much time with her. She thinks they are my "other women". I have five, only two are running. Apparently I spend too much time with her or a few more would be running! |

You all will understand better than anyone
I dated this girl for 3 years, and I have a '68 sunroof.
she was the kind of girl that would put on a driving scarf and big sunglasses to ride around in it.
If only.. losing a girl like that was the biggest mistake of my life.
She would even sit in my garage and talk/read me books/make me food/drinks and play music to me when I was working on it.
damn...

I learned to drive in my dad's '68 Square. I always knew I wanted a VW, just couldn't find one. I got a great deal on a Super about 2 years after the wife and I got together. She loved it from the start. She dropped a hint in my ear one day, saying she'd always wanted a bus. I found a '73 for her. She loved it too. We got away from ACVW's as our family grew, but are trying to get back into them now that the kids are a little older. It's buses for us from now on. But that beats the hell out of a mini-van . And the green '77 we're restoring right now...she found it all on her own . Peace! _________________

... X3! Except I'll let my hubby roll my Ghia... and he lets me roll the Bronco in the mud too.
We do have to take turns buying parts and spending money on them though.
And my son who is 15 thinks the Ghia is very , but I'm still not gonna let him touch it!
I feel bad for some of you guys... I was talking to a guy in the bank the other day about cars and motorcycles... and he suddenly stopped and with a scowl said, "Why can't more girls be like you?"

I didn't have the beetle when I met my girlfriend. The first one I bought was a "Project" and it ended up being a nightmare. Through a long series of events I got rid of it and got my current 66. She loves the car as much as I do which is great since I've wanted one for the past 20 years (I'm only 27). This will be the first full summer with it and we already have shows planned and where we'll be going every weekend. I got her the engagement ring and I will be asking her in that car this spring. She already told me when we get married we don't need a limo just the bug |

My better half started me on this sickness LOL. But for the original poster - you got other issues besides the VW. When you have them nitpicking and hassling over something that you love, then that is simply a symptom of other issues in the relationship. Been there done that.
I love the cars and Cindy is incredibly supportive and encouraging (I need that on occasion). She offered to help me push the pan back in the storage garage today (10 degress, snow and ice) after I just finished dropping the suspension. I took her up on it.... _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.
