|
|
The 1st time I start my car in the morning, the oil light stays on for about 5 or 6 seconds. The rest of the day it is fine, goes out soon as the engine starts. It does not flicker or come on at idle even when it's hot. 1600 single port built on a dual relief case with about 500 miles.
Do I have a stuck relief valve or what? Thanks |

What oil? May be to thick of a viscosity.
Do you have a full flow system? If so is the system rather large with extra coolers and line that are all mounted above the sump and draining back. |

I am using Rotella 15-40, no full flow or extra coolers. |

Back the oil down to a 5w-30, and watch pressures. Pressure will build much faster with a thiner higher flowing oil. 15-40 is pretty chunky for your part of the country IMO. |

I'm running a 26mm pump. I thought the 15-40 would be ok because the temps here now are about 65 in the AM, 85 - 90 days. |

to me it sounds like excessive gear lash, or the pump cover is not flat, or the gears are not flush with the pump body. The result is the oil siphons away when you shut down, and it has to refill the pickup and galleys with oil at startup. This is very common with cast iron pumps (their tolerances are so horrendous), but I've seen it with cheap or worn out aluminum pumps too.

I surfaced the pump cover but it could be the pump (brazil). It does seem to let all the oil leak down to the sump when it sits overnight. |

the ONLY pump I recommend is genuine Schadek and OEM VW.
The rest I would not use if you gave them to me.
