I think you missed the point.

It is gas mileage. I am looking for stock mileage numbers with a bigger bottom end.

I am running a 76mm crank and 90.5mm pistons. If I would have ran the Engle W110 it would have destroyed my mileage. I could at a later time use 1.25 rockers and get close to the same spec's as the W110 but for now this cam is close to the same specs and CB's cheater cam.

I am not building a race motor and I am not looking for full out the most performance I can get. I want decent performance without paying a premium at the pump. I drive 60 Miles a day and pay 4.50 a gallon for gas.

With this combo I can still run the 044 heads and later on I could if I wanted to add 1.25 rockers and IDF's and get a huge power boost.

Sorry about that, I got your thread mixed up with another one in my head, (post edited) however what I said about the FK-40 series cams still stands.
So are you or are you not open to running ratio rockers?

but that's my question -- why not pay a couple bucks more for a Berg-quality cam?

or is that supposed quality fallen by the wayside?

I am not against running ratio rockers. But for right now the 1.1 rockers will give me almost exactly what I am looking for but It will give me more bolt on performance options in the future.

The KF41 with 1.1 rockers is almost exactly the same specs as the CB cheater cam with a little less duration but a little more duration @.050

The cheater cam is

394 lift with 274 duration and 222 duration @.050

the KF41 with 1.1 rockers is

400 lift with 269 duration and 239 duration @ .050

The W110 cam is

430 lift with 284 duration and 247 duration @ .050

as you can see the duration alone on the W110 would cause enough valve overlap to destroy my mileage not even putting the valve lift in to consideration but if I use the KF41 I can add 1.25 rockers later and get 455 lift later on.

I may be wrong here but from what i am thinking the KF41 is the most bang for the buck considering the bolt on performance I can add later. And since its really close in spec's with the CB cheater cam I should be able to get the best millage possible. I may lose a little mileage because of the added duration @.050 but I think that's worth the cost considering the options I have later on when I decide to upgrade to ratio rockers and IDF's

This is of course if I use 044 heads.

I'm getting 30 mpg out of my Bay bus with stock sized ported heads, 76x88 T1 engine. Imagine what you could get in a sedan.

vdub

I completely understand your numbers, and there good I may add. I just want you to understand that the FK-40 series cams have a steep ramp angle and are very hard on lifter bores.
If your running a new aluminum case or a mag case with sleeved lifter bores then your good go for it, otherwise I would reconsider my cam choice.
Its almost a given that no one ad's upgrades later on, once the engine is built its built, so I would build a combo that is compatible in all aspect from the start.
