The Melvins are one of my favorite bands. They're coming out here(Denver) next month and I can't wait. I haven't picked up their latest album, but a senile animal was great. I really dig their (somewhat) new lineup and sound, and they always put on a good show.

I picked up the latest album yesterday. I think its good, and well done. They aren't afraid to experiment that's for sure - but they always have something thats inherently their sound.

They're coming here Aug. 19th.
Can't wait.
A Senile Animal is a great x100 album.
I just saw that they are touring with Big Business AGAIN!
The first time I saw them was 1987 at a very small venue, one of the best live bands ever... Cool

Agreed! However, IMHO, the Melvins are better by themselves.
Coming from a huge Patton fan...

Are you allowed to go to a Melvins show and then stay at a B&B??? Isn't that somehow a contradiction?
Smile
(enjoy the show)

LOL- well, I was trying for down on the loop, but the wife wanted to stay someplace different instead of the same ole michigan avenue stuff, plus there is nothing around wicker park (where the club is) other then B&Bs..(that I would care to sleep anyway... Laughing ). The plan is the show, then hanging out in bucktown and checking out wicker park the following day.
I did find out the club puts the acts up at the DaysInn just south on Michigan Ave- but they are booked up solid - some big conventions in Chi that week.

What an Awesome show put on, by Big Business and the Melvins.. We just got back from Chicago, it was hot and humid both days, but last night (of the show) it cooled down some and started to rain a bit. We thought we had missed it as we waited for the doors to open @ 8pm...at 8:04 it started to lightening, and the wind picked up..at 8:07 we were about 20 back in line and then the rain just poured as they finally opened the door. By the time we got in (maybe 20 seconds later) Both the wife and I were completely soaked thru, as was everyone else. The storms came thru with 65-70 mph winds and knocked down a light pole, right on the corner from the club. There was talk of a tornado touching down right by in Brookpark (not confirmed as of this am).. After several hours crammed in with 300+ ppl, we left, wet, stinky and hungry. So, we went across the street @ 1am to ZoomTaco, got a burritto, and walked back to the place we were staying. Trees were all over the place, water everywhere..with all the storms and havoc..a great show..

Was anyone able to pick up the Melvins (a) Senile Animal 4x LP boxed set from The Secret Headquarters? I was out of town and missed the email release notification... Confused Guess I need to settle for the non-boxed set being released from Hydrahead, or pay 3X the selling price on Egay.. Rolling Eyes
