In my local area I found a 70 bus that has camper interior but no pop up. They are asking 3k. It hit a deer in the front and messed wiring up in front, smoke and melted wiring but no fire. They say it's been parked since 2002. Stock motor, but has disks added to front. it rolls fine. Says they lost all paperwork so it's a bill of sale deal.

Since it has no pink, i'll feel the person out on that, he says it was in his name. I hate to part it but I think all the parts i need would exceed this value.

I'm thinking it could be a great parts vehicle. I have a 70 bus 7 passenger. I need minor items but i think they could add up and make this a good deal for me.
The motor is stock and has original throttle compensator on it etc, the steering wheel looks great. The front disks i'm not sure what they are off of but tt has like 71 rims so (small circle holes) maybe it's from a newer vw bus. The fold down bed is operational and table etc. beside the front the rest of the metal is straight.

What's the thought on the price of a parts only vehicle? I'm thinking $2500...

I'm heading to see it on my lunch time, it's 30 minutes away from me.

Update: they said they lost pink, had registration but on my way back to town i stopped at dmv and found out it's a salvage title so now i'm bummed and thinking of getting it for a parts only now since it's title is ruined.

Update2: called and spoke to owner tellng them about the salvage title, we agreed on a lower price, going in an hour to trailer it home. I may pursue getting it retitled after i check damage, looking at it it apprears it could be a new front skin. Im having a tough time as i almost cant bring myself to part out such a clean westy tintop bus.

boo.

Thanks

Rob

Another potential good deal from EBTH.com:

https://www.ebth.com/items/6093471-1968-vw-bus-bench-seat

Not as nice as the last middle seat I posted, especially with the arm rest cut off, but could be a good deal. No association with the seat or the site. Just trying to be helpful...

I saw a couple vw busses at a tow yard in Vancouver Washington. A 72 tin top westfalia and I think the other was a 74. I didn't get a full tour of them but they look to be all there. I asked how much and $3000 for the tin top westfalia and $2500 for the other bus.

$3500 CDN seems to be a really good price for a 79 with FI, depending how much salt it has seen up here

Yup, it was a very good deal. So good that it's already sold.

Maybe we will see another new Samba member pop in here soon, telling about this great deal on a Canadian Westy.

Came from an old VW bus...not sure of year. It needs a good cleaning and if you replaced formica top would look like new. The faucet is not there but sink is, and holding tank for water is in back...Something they don't make anymore so grab it while you can

Are these worth a lot? I have the same one (at least it looks the same from that photo) that I won't be putting back in mine.

Not sure if this is a proper place to post this... but anyone recently see any 72 fuel tanks for sale? Bay window of course.

I just went through 2 tanks that were junk unfortunately. I have a WTB ad on the classified but I'm not sure how often people with spare parts browse WTB.

Looking in the classifieds for people who are parting bay buses. Manfred in Colorado. Interstate in SD. Others are parting buses as well.
